Administrator is not allowed to edit and save an article

Post by schohmik » Wed Jun 07, 2023 12:42 pm

Hello,

I have defined a new user as administrator. When he tries to edit and modify an article he runs into
Request Timeout

This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase 'Connection Timeout'.

I have found out that the reason is an Umlaut in the name, for instance schönrock instead schoenrock.
But it seems to be a bug. How can I solve the problem?

It's unusual that certain characters in the username would cause a connection timeout; however, nothing would surprise me.

Is it possible for you to run the Forum Post Assistant tool (see the pink area at the top of this page) and post the results here? I would also check the database character set and collation to make sure the tables are compatible with UTF-8 multi-byte; see https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en ... abase.html (perhaps).

Do you know what character set and collation you are using with your database?

It's not the username but the article title und a .jpg with umlaut like "ö" or "ä" or "ü".
And I forgot to mention that logged in as superuser everything works well.
