Front end all update article version

Post by sylwekb » Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:11 pm

Hallo

Is there an option or add-on from the front that allows you to enable article versions. I know there are versions from the administration panel. What I mean is to show all article modifications and their dates from the front publicly. Has anyone added this functionality?

Thank you

It's an interesting idea, but probably limited applicability though.

You would want visibility only, correct? Not the same functionality (reverting to older versions) as the backend has - just view a list?

Exactly from the front only the list of changes to the article version. There could be a Article Versions button under the article and after clicking it the list of versions, i.e. the changes to each article in text form. I'm looking for Joomla extensions but I haven't found such an add-on, unless I'm looking in the wrong place.

Joomla doesn't store the changes, it stores the entire previous version. So if someone were to click on the version link, they'd see an entire article.

This information from the admin panel should also be available at the front of each article. As I understand it, each version is also a modification of the article, so that should be enough. Only the number of characters in the article changes. I showed a screenshot from the admin panel. I am from Poland.

Each version is a complete copy of that version of the article. It's not the changes - it's the whole article.

The character count is quite easy to obtain, and a diff would be just as easy ( $chardiff = abs(strlen($a)-strlen($b)); )—unlike a diff of HTML. What you're asking for would be a pretty complicated and heavy plugin.
