Upgrading joke

Post by 4thdesign1 » Fri Oct 15, 2021 4:24 pm

Perhaps its just me, but I bit the bullet and upgraded one of my sites to Joomla 4

After a bit of trouble, It eventually installed. Several weeks later, an update came out and I thought, great, these guys are ironing out the problems and issues with an update, then there was another update fairly soon after. Great work guys.

However......................... My joomla version is still on 4.0
WHY?............ because no matter what i try or do, it just breaks the admin site when you attempt to update.

If feels like Joomla 4 has been rushed out, and not ironed out before releasing to the public. Sorry, but its been a FU****** shambles so far.

I am now at a point of not touching my joomla installation on my version 4.0 until at least 6 months have passed and I will attempt another installation, probably a clean installation again and see what happens.

Am really sorry, but I am very disappointed with this version. I like the way it looks and flows in the backend, but if you cant sort this crap out, then I could be ditching Joomla sooner, rather than later.

Am very hopeful things will improve in 6 months time, fingers crossed.

Not seen anybody else with this problem on the forums...
Try posting the FPA (red box above, read the docs first) so we can see your server configs.

I don't mean to be funny but what is "it"? What is breaking the website when you attempt to update and, further, how are you going about attempting the update process?

I'll put my hand up here, volunteer myself as a person who will listen patiently to someone's complaints (for as long as someone wants to complain) as long as, by the same token, that person will listen to any advice I may offer in return. So, if it would assist the OP, @4thdesign1 can have my undivided attention offline from the forum and we can discuss the issue further.

Disclaimer: I am not soliciting "work"—I have never solicited work, sought or received payment of any kind for any help that I offer—via this forum, nor do would I ever do that to any person. I don't guarantee success (but I've had a goodly sum of successes) and I don't offer this to everyone on the forum. The forum is a self-help resource where discussions should, in the main, be conducted openly and transparently. I'm only saying that, from time to time, some things can be accomplished quicker by other means.
