Starting the process of upgrading my J3.10.5 site to J4.0.6. I am testing the process out on the localhost of my Mac having installed MAMP so that I can get everything sorted before working on the live site. Have changed error reporting to Development and the error I get when it fails is:

Argument 2 passed to Joomla\CMS\Installer\InstallerAdapter::__construct() must be an instance of Joomla\Database\DatabaseDriver, instance of JDatabaseDriverMysqli given, called in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/adv/libraries/src/Adapter/Adapter.php on line 153

Really not sure how this is helping me to track down the issue and resolve it.

Does anyone have any clues?

If you also enable debug in the global configuration you will get a much more detailed stack trace of the error

Thanks for this tip Brian. I had turned on error messages but did not realise I also had to do Debug mode. All set up now. The attached screenshot shows the output from the error console.

Can anyone please advise me what is causing the problem with the update? I posted the debug information up here the other day but there has not been any reply. I'm only an occasional Joomla user but my first reading of the debug listing is that none of the scripts relate to any component that may have been installed onto the site. Or am I missing something?

Does your 3.10 site run normally on your Mac? What is the history of the 3.10 site? At what stage does the message appear - a page screenshot might give us context.

It is not obvious what is wrong from the stack trace and debugging looks tricky. It may help to look at the output from the Forum Post Assistant - I suspect something amiss with your installation.

A also use a Mac for testing.

It's good to know that the debug trace is not providing some information that I am missing - proves to me that I'm not being daft but still doesn't help me resolve it!

I've only had the site in the Mac while trying to test the update process. Although I can run the back end on the Mac, each time I try to go to the front end it keeps changing http to https and so won't load (I've looked for solutions using Google but they don't work - I suspect the workarounds that have been posted no longer work because they are all from older versions of OS X.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the Forum Post Assistant I'll take a good look and come back.

I don't use https on for local testing on my Mac - check setting of Force HTTPS in Global Configuration and .htaccess.
