500 error on update 4.2.1 -> 4.2.2 Topic is solved

Hi.
I'm getting a 500 error red page when I click on "update".
I can go back to dashboard with the browser back-button, and everything appears to be working correctly.
It's a simple site, Cassiopeia, Akeeba, RSforms. Developed in Joomla 4.
Other Joomla!4 sites on the same hosting platform updated smoothly.
This site updated to 4.2.1 smoothly a couple of days ago and I haven't changed anything since then.
What can be causing this?

Made things worse.
I updated PHP to 8.0 and set max post size and max upload size to 64M.
Now I can no longer open the site, neither front-end nor back-end. Both return a 500 error.
What should I do now?

upload size is a bit small I prefer 128 for both and memory would be better at 256Mb

Thanks. That would mean the update had already started doing something and then went to the 500 error? The error seemed to show up immediately...
I think I'm going to restore this morning's backup.
And then see what happens.

Set PHP back to 7.4 .
Site came back online and works again.
Update ran without a hitch.

I agree and I would go further. These are my recommendations for the minimum settings for PHP with J!:



... and (a) I would disable GZip compression in the Global Configuration and (b) set the Session Handler to Filesystem.
