Tools to move content from J3 to J4

Post by stuffdone » Mon Jan 30, 2023 4:58 pm

What are the best tools to move content from J3 to clean install of J4?

I have had too many problems trying to do any of the "migration" steps. Since most of my sites have fairly limited content I think it is best to not even attempt to "migrate" but to do a clean fresh J4 install then copy over content.

Is there a preferred tool that works well to do this from J3 to J4?

https://extensions.joomla.org/extension ... grateme-4/
https://extensions.joomla.org/extension ... p-upgrade/

Or
Create your Categories and menus then copy paste the Articles.
Thanks I saw that but with only two reviews I avoid extensions that untested by peer review. Also is kind of expensive when I have dozens of sites to migrate.

Yes I know that option. Have already used it on a few sites. Pretty easy with small amount of content.

Thanks

sp upgrade has 168 reviews. There are experts on this forum that used their extension to migrate J2 to J3 sites.

We use RO CSVI (https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/ro-csvi/) to migrate from J3 to J4 for sites that have many users / many articles and also maybe a lot of custom fields. It does take some time to understand the workflow of this extension but it's pretty powerfull and usefull once you get the hang of it.

But for most of the sites we maintain for our clients we just copy and paste content ;-)
