Entering catagories and menus in the admin site

Hi all,

since I migrated to joomla 4, I am having trouble in entering menus and phoca gallery catagories. In joomla 3 i just typed the first letters of a requested menu or catagory, but now I seemed to have lost that function. I do have to scroll through the complete menu or catagory list to find the requested item.
I use:
Joomla 4.1.2
PHP 8.0.13
JCE-editor
Phoca gallery 4.5

(Since i have the same problem in entering menus, i do not believe this is a phoca gallery problem.)

Any one an idea of what i did wrong?

It's more likely a browser issue.

I don't think so, because i have the same problem in Edge, Chrome and Firefox.

n joomla 3 i just typed the first letters of a requested menu or catagory, but now I seemed to have lost that function.

I dont see anything in joomla 3 that would provide that functionality (or I completely misunderstand)

OK. Here's an example:
I am creating a new menu-item "2022" for flowers of the Borage family. So I enter as titel 2022, enter an alias and select the menu type : Phoca gallery - List of Images. Then the first list when i have to select an item from the catagory list...
When I click select catagory, in h=joonla 3 you would hget an combination of dropdown and dtaentry (combo field) where i would type e.g. borage and get immidiately the Borage catagory...But kow I do need to scroll through the list...(see picture joomla1)

Same when I select the Meny Item "Borage family"where the new menu belongs to, I do need to scroll through the complete list...(seeo picture joomla2)

The first of those is phoca specific. The second is a change in behaviour in joomla 4 but I do not know the reason for this (may be an oversight)

OK, for the phoca catagory i'll contact Jan Pavelka from Phoca. But how to bring the second one to attention of the joomla team....

if its a joomla bug, post it on https://issues.joomla.org with instructions on how to replicate the problem.
