Remaining tables in data base after uninstalling

Post by abomareya » Fri Oct 07, 2022 12:54 pm

Hello

I noticed in the Joomla database, tables of removed and uninstalled extensions !

Why were these tables not deleted from the database after uninstalling the extensions?

And does the presence of a large number of empty tables (or with small amount of data ) in the database cause a problem for performance ?

While uninstalling an extension, it is the function of the extension to delete/drop the table(s) it has created.

However, not all the extensions when they are uninstalled would delete/drop the tables, they have created during the install, from the database. For example, Akeeba Backup would leave the table xyz_akeeba_common (where xyz_ is the table/db prefix of the Joomla installation). Probably this is done to have a footprint that may help the administrator(s) of the site.

There would not be any performance issue in the database because of these tables as these tables would not be used to fetch data.
