J2store add to cart link with component in menu url

Hoping someone can help with this, J2store tech support is not responding.
Updated site from j3 to j4, followed the j2store instructions. Everything seems to work well.
Problem is both my custom theme and Cassiopea show the home page modules on the add to cart link.

The page reloads, showing all the home page modules above the important content.

I suspect the problem is the URL https://eri.org/new-site/component/j2store/carts

Happens on PHP 8.0 and 8.1, all software is up to date. Tried putting the cart and store on a hidden menu, that didn't help. Tried Advanced Module Manager, that didn't work either, no change. Read a lot of posts about putting the offending item on a hidden menu, that doesn't work because there is nothing to put there. The add to cart button is placed via a plugin. Tried adding "component" as a category or menu item, that is not allowed.

But the puzzling thing is this works in J3:

but the home page modules don't show.

I'd be most grateful if someone could help, it's been a few weeks, and we waited a long time for j2store to update to j4. Yes, am thinking of changing our store software but it would be really nice if we could get this fixed.
