Template suggestions?

Post by jimsz » Fri Jun 09, 2023 4:10 pm

Good Afternoon -

Over the summer I need to update my joomla site due to the theme no longer being supported and needing to upgrade to joomla 4. My site is light traffic and provides information on a boys club for parents.

I've duplicated my website/database and will choose a default theme (prosper) before upgrading to joomla 4). Website image is below. Currently using the joomlashine theme Metro 2.

I keep going down rabbit holes in trying to find a new theme. I'd like something similar if possible but at a minimum something colorful with side modules.

Does anyone have any suggestions on something similar for sale/subscription?

You'd build all the visuals yourself with CSS, HTML and graphics. It's a learning curve, but worthwhile learning. Even starting with Cassieopia (the default in J4) would be worthwhile. I doubt you'll get anything "out of the box" that 100% suits your need completely.

Cassieopia could certainly be used to create the above since the screenshot seems to suggest it has a main body, a header and a banner and a sidebar - all aspects Cassiopeia can easily handle.

How you develop the colour scheme - text colours, background colours, visual style - is all up to your own knowledge or assimilation of such knowledge by learning. This forum is a good source for that, but I would also point you to w3schocols.com for all things CSS, Javascript, and HTML - a great resource for those learning.

Personally, I use SP Page Builder and Helix Template (Joomshaper.com). There are other frameworks like Gantry, and T4 that offer similar products.

Cassiopeia KickStart would be a good start or even Joomla's Cassiopeia template but its limited.

Personally, I love Helix Ultimate using the SP Page Builder Lite version.
