Upgrading Cassiopeia Template to Version 4
I have a joomla site 4.3.4 installed on a Host Gator hosting server. I have installed Joomla 4.3.4 both manually, via FTP, and also via Host Gator's cPanel. Both installations have resulted in Cassipeia version 1.0 being installed (why, I do not know), and I want to upgrade Cassiopeia to latest version 4.x.x, but I am having absolutely NO LUCK finding the download for the latest version of Cassiopeia.
Can anyone help?

Welcome to the Joomla forum!
If you downloaded and installed Joomla 4.3.4, it came with the latest version of Cassiopeia.

Version 1.0 is the latest. It will be updated (if it needs to be) with J4 updates.
I know it looks odd, but go with it

Re: Upgrading Cassiopeia Template to Version 4
Thank you for the welcome, it's good to be here.
I'm sorry, but I believe your reply was incorrect. The current Joomla 4.3.4 package ships with Cassiopeia template version 1.0, which was buggy and only certified for Joomla 3.x. I'm using Joomla 4.3.4 with Cassiopeia 1.0, and there are many administrative features missing. Very frustrating trying to find the upgrade to Cassiopeia version 4.0.2 which, according to Google Bard AI client, is actually the latest version.
See for yourself, ask Bard the following question:
Are you aware that the current joomla 4.3.4 package is shipping with old outdated Cassiopeia template package version 1.0? IF yes, can you give me a good download URL for latest version Cassiopeia version 4.x?
And you will get this reply:
Yes, I am aware that the current Joomla 4.3.4 package is shipping with the old outdated Cassiopeia template package version 1.0. This is because the Cassiopeia template is still under development, and the Joomla team is working on releasing a new version of the template that is compatible with Joomla 4.3.4.
In the meantime, you can download the latest version of the Cassiopeia template (4.0.28) from the Joomla GitHub repository:
https://github.com/joomla/cassiopeia/re ... 4.0.28.zip
Once you have downloaded the template package, you can install it on your Joomla 4.3.4 website by following the steps in my previous response.

Re: Upgrading Cassiopeia Template to Version 4
Really sorry but this is incorrect.
Cassiopeia was new for Joomla 4 as it runs on a later version of the Bootstrap framework which was not available in Joomla 3. Protostar was the default template that shipped with Joomla 3.
I agree that Cassiopeia shows as v1.0 in the Templates section of administrator. It isn't actually v1.0 though.
What shows if you download/install the latest available version from Github?
Edit:
The link you give throws a 404

Cassiopeia never came with Joomla 3. That was Protostar. You're confusing two different templates. But you're right - *Protostar* doesn't work with J4 (although someone did create a J4-compatible version) - viewtopic.php?t=988263

We do not have to believe everything Google Bard says. It is using generative AI, which is not always a reliable source of information. Sometimes it is simply an exercise in the GIGO principle.
Please note that the repository https://github.com/joomla/cassiopeia was last updated three years ago, while Joomla 4 was still in development and it has the following preamble:
github wrote:This repository has been archived by the owner on Jan 25, 2021. It is now read-only.

Hi. The danger of AI lies in the fact that many people begin to perceive its answers as truth in the last instance. However, most of the answers from AI are often stupidity or repetition of your theses from the question.Skynet is already near![]()
In order to get a good answer from AI, you yourself must understand the subject of the question and put it correctly.
AI is only an assistant, but not a guru.
Therefore, the mention of Bard cannot be an argument for establishing the truth
