Where is Cassiopea?

Post by antonios » Mon Dec 09, 2024 9:34 pm

Hi,
I unistalled cassiopea template and would like to install it again.
I went to the GitHub site where cassiopea is kept and downloaded a .zip file called cassiopea-development.zip
is this the template that comes as a default with J4? or is it a package for template developers?
When I try to install it I get this error message:
JInstaller: :Install: Can't find Joomla XML setup file.
The Joomla package cannot be installed through the Extension Manager. Please use the Joomla! Update component to update Joomla.
Can anyone point me to the actual download site of this template?

It's in the Package you used to install Joomla.

I think the easiest way would be to reinstall the Joomla package for the current version you're using.

Download the appropriate package from https://downloads.joomla.org/cms/joomla4

Hello @Per Yngve Berg
In the Joomla Update panel: I can't see the Reload Core Files button. However Joomla asks me to update to 5.2.2 (my understandig is that the button should be in this section of the back-end, right but that it is not visible because there
is a new update available)
Should I just do this, and restart from there?

Well, I updated to J5.2.2 and after some tinkering I managed to make Cassiopeia appear again! At last!
However after setting Cassiopeia as the default template I get this error:
error.png
Where it says that "the page cannot be found", however if I scroll at the bottom of the page I can see the page footer.
error2.png
That's weird. What maybe causing this???
I also tried using other templates getting the same error type
It seems that the page is not capable of opening a module?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

It is actually not a page that is not found, but a module view file, default.php, because the path to that module is for some reason incorrect. Instead of .../public_html/Joomla4/modules/custom/html/default.php the path should be .../public_html/Joomla4/modules/mod_custom/html/default.php. Joomla does not have a folder called modules/custom.

I went to the GitHub site where cassiopea is kept and downloaded a .zip file called cassiopea-development.zip
That file from https://github.com/joomla/cassiopeia was last updated four years ago when Joomla 4.0 was very new. Many classes and methods in the Joomla 4 core have changed, and most likely in the Cassiopeia code as well. The best course of action is to do a full restore of the website into an empty filesystem and a new database from the time when the website was working .

Thanks @Toivo,
yasterday I did the update from joomla 4.4.9 to joomla 5.2.2. Before doing that I did not get that error
and I did back up before running the update. It's interesting to notice that there doesn't seem to be a consistency
check during the update to make sure that everything is where it is supposed to be ...?

Anyway, I am not sure how to do what you suggest, becasuse
1) I don't have enough space to setup another website in my server, but I could do that on localhost (my laptop for sure)
2) I am not sure how to restore the previously working database on top of an empty database
3) Are you referring to doing a full restore of the Joomla 5 website or the joomla 4?
