Smart search with big site

Hello
There is a Joomla 4 site, where we have 3000 articles.
For that the #__finder_terms table contains 3 million rows with 1.2 GB size, and a #__finder_links_terms table with 5 million rows and 360 MB size which is surpisingly big.

We plan to migrate an other Joomla 3 site to Joomla 4 where are ~29.000 articles. I can't imagine how big index tables do need for that.

If Smart Search does not perform or your db tables get to big, then you could consider using alternatives like Elastic Search.
There's a commercial plugin available that makes Joomla's (Smart?) Search use Elastic Search:
