Hi,

I updated from 4.2.1 to 4.2.4 a couple of days ago and my site has become incredibly slow. I have tried everything from disabling caching plugins, gzip and others but not found the cause yet. I have also updated php to 8.1x

I have run the FPA and this is the output. I assume I just post it here? I have to do it in 2 separate posts apparently. This is the first part without plugins selected:

You have a strange Memory limit.

Set a real value like 512M

many thanks for replying. I have made those changes to php.ini that you and Per Yngve Berg suggested. Unfortunately it is still the same.

Should I disable Gzip altogether from the server? I have access to EasyApache so do I disable it there? Also, I checked that opcache is installed within EasyApache and it is enabled, but I am not sure how to enable it in php. I found this in another post on here relating to Opcache and added it to my php.ini:

opcache.memory_consumption=128
opcache.interned_strings_buffer=8
opcache.max_accelerated_files=10000
opcache.revalidate_freq=60

Just in case, did you restart Apache after changing php.ini?

Go to System - Information - System Information - PHP Information and check from the Local Value column that the changes in php.ini were made in the correct php.ini.

Do you have Logging enabled? In Plugin System - Debug do you have Refresh Assets set to Yes?

With debug enabled have you looked at the Debug Profile output?

Are any of your vast collection of extensions waiting for a response from a remote host?

Was the Community Builder component perhaps used at some stage but subsequently uninstalled?

Yes community builder was installed to test a number of years back but i uninstalled it. I dont know where that stray file is it keeps referring to.

I just changed that value Maximum Input Variables to 2000 - its my own fault I keep looking for guidance as to best settings for PHP and there are so many suggestions out there - hense the mess. Someone suggested increasing this.

When Im reduced it back it threw an error about capacity. I am totally baffled as to what this issue is!

thank you so much for all your help. I have fixed it now and thought I should update this post in case anyone else has same issue.

Firstly it was some of those settings you all suggested like the php.ini but the thing that fixed it was updating akeeba backup and their admin tools to latest versions. Now the pages load great.
