How to speed up J4 site for mobile search?

Post by mountainsman » Tue Jan 17, 2023 1:35 am

Having moved to Joomla 4 I can no longer use Rokbooster to speed up my site.

I was recommended to try JCHoptimise but its made the site even slower, google speed test gives it 20/100 for a mobile search:

any tips to get JCH to perform or a better option?

thanks

Hi,

Here are some suggestions from ChatGPT, maybe they will help you

To increase the speed of a Joomla 4 site on mobile devices, you can follow these steps:
  • Use a fast and reliable hosting service: A good hosting service can have a big impact on your site's performance, especially on mobile devices.
  • Enable caching: Joomla 4 has built-in caching options that can help speed up your site. Enabling caching can reduce the time it takes to load your pages and improve your site's mobile performance.
  • Minimize the use of images and videos: Large images and videos can slow down your site on mobile devices, so it's a good idea to minimize their use or optimize them for web use.
  • Use a lightweight template: Choose a template that is optimized for mobile devices and lightweight in terms of code and styling.
  • Use a content delivery network (CDN): A CDN can help distribute a load of serving content to users, making your site faster and more responsive on mobile devices.
  • Optimize your website's code: Make sure your website's code is optimized, including minifying and combining CSS and JavaScript files, to reduce the size of your pages and speed up their load times on mobile devices.
  • Keep your Joomla installation and extensions up-to-date: Regularly updating your Joomla installation and extensions can help improve performance and address any security issues that might arise.

All great suggestions by hungkhanggl.

What version of JCH are you using? Free or Pro?

Have you experimented with the settings for JCH? It has lots of options.

You could also look into finding a web host that offers LiteSpeed. We've had good results with that.

Hi, I had good results with JCH Optimize.

The best settings differ per website. It is therefore often necessary to test which works best.

First, temporarily disable the caching plugin.
Then make 1 adjustment at a time and test it with Google Pagespeed. When it gets better, leave the setting. Otherwise, turn it off again and go to the next one.

I use Cloudflare with a cache extension. It's one of the solutions to optimize and speed up your site. Cloudflare also offers a free version, did you try?

One final suggestion...run the site through Google's PageSpeed tool and fix the issues they identify.
