Schema Plugin is missing in Joomla 5

Post by Democrazy » Fri Mar 29, 2024 5:24 am

I have a new Joomla 5.03 site but there is no Schema Plugin.

I made a new Joomla 5 site and used akeemba to restore a backup from my old 4.4 site

How can I install or add schema to my joomla 5?

The Schema.org plugins are installed with Joomla 5.0.3 by default.

If you restored a backup from Joomla 4.4 site, then you have a Joomla 4.4 site and the plugins may have disappeared, if the files and the database were replaced by the Joomla 4.4 files and the database.

Why on earth does this need to be so difficult...

I had to make a new joomla 5 site because my old one did not meet the minimum requirements.

How on earth do I migrate my joomla 4.4 to a new 5 site then?

I followed the instructions and my site does say its version 5.0.3.

Start from Joomla 4.4 and follow this Joomla tutorial: Joomla 4.4.x to 5.x Planning and Upgrade Step by Step

If you have any issues with your Joomla 4 site that stop you from running the normal online update, please create a new topic in the subforum Migrating and Upgrading to Joomla! 5.x and post also the results from running the Forum Post Assistant (FPA) .

I have followed the guide but no matter what I try, the schema plugin does not appear.

I followed the guide line for line. I even deleted any unsupported module before trying the upgrade. No matter what I try Schema.org plugin does not appear.

The closest I have got is upgrading from 5.0.3 to 5.1 which shows only 2 out of the 6 plugins schema plugins

Can you use a file manager to look in plugins/schemaorg - I see 9 folders there. Did you check whether any are disabled?

How can I do this? I searched for this and it says that that Discover was a feature in joomla 3 and has been removed. Is there a way to do this in joomla 5?

It is available in Joomla 5.x from System Dashboard - Install - Discover.

Ref. Help 4.x: Extensions: Discover

OMG I HAVE SCHEMA.ORG WORKING ON MY JOOMLA 5 SITE NOW!!!! Thanks so much friends! :D

Yes I used the "Discover" link to install them and it shows schema now. Here is a guide on how to do it if anybody else has this problem. Its probably the same process for anything missing in Joomla 5 because discover showed a lot of other stuff listed besides schema.

1. Go to: System Dashboard>Install>Discover
1-discover.png

2. Check the joomla system modules you are missing, for me its schema.org and click "Install"
2-discover.png

3. Go to: System Dashboard>Manage>Extensions and enable what you need to use
3-discover.png

4. Now you can add schema to your joomla content such as articles
4-discover.png

Now its time to profit :pop thanks for making my day
