Akeeba restoration in live site giving error
Hello.
I am not sure if this is the right section, apologies.
I cloned a website in WAMP and now it is ready to be uploaded in the production site. I made a backup using Akeeba.
I tried to restore the backup in the production site.
I am not sure about the part where it asks about .htaccess, there are 2 options, Use default or No (or something like that).
When I chose Use default, the restoration did not proceed but a screen with an error message "Internal Server Error, blah, blah...)
When I chose the other one, it reached up to the screen where it says visit the site, or it proceeded. But when I clicked the button, again "Internal Server Error" displays.
One thing I noticed at the start, the screen where it shows the properties of the server, it says I am restoring to a PHP 5.6.X version but I know that our hosting has 8.2 version. Also the one with the checklist of the properties showed green checks.
SOS, please.
Thanks.

Delete the folders/files and drop the database tables
Use kickstart to unpack the jpa file and choose to replace the .htaccess file
If no avail

Re: Akeeba restoration in live site giving error
Was the production site still using PHP 5.6? If you are restoring the localhost Joomla 5 site into the same domain, it would not work without selecting PHP 8.2 first from cPanel or a similar page, provided by your host.

Re: Akeeba restoration in live site giving error
We already have our website in Joomla 4. When I upgraded from Joomla 3 to 4, I did not encounter this problem.
I will verify with them.

Re: Akeeba restoration in live site giving error
I tried again using default.
And the same error.
This is what I am referring to: But it is strange because we already have our website in Joomla 4, and PHP 8.2.
I created a folder and placed the contents of public_html there, so the public_html is empty except for folders from our subdomain and Moodle site. The database I also created new.
I am waiting for our hosting's reply.

Re: Akeeba restoration in live site giving error
The hosting said that everytime I empty the public_html folder, I have to change PHP version because it resets to default 5.6.4.
So, I did as instructed.
I tried two times in various options: First, I chose the "Replace..." and the 2nd attempt, I chose "Remove..."
Both times, the same error appeared: I encountered this error before when I also restored using Akeeba, a subdomain. The solution was rename the htaccess.txt, so I tried renaming it in both attempts but this error occurred: SOS.

The error message tells you what to do.

Re: Akeeba restoration in live site giving error
I have never heard of this? On a normal server shared or not this is not the case. You have many posts about fundamentally the same problem moving sites from Wamp to live server,it should be seamless!!!The hosting said that everytime I empty the public_html folder, I have to change PHP version because it resets to default 5.6.4.
Who are you hosting with?

Re: Akeeba restoration in live site giving error
I was able to do it without a problem before, when I changed Joomla 3 to 4 recently.gws wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2024 4:55 pmI have never heard of this? I only had a problem when I did it in a folder for a subdomain within public_html, and it got resolved with renaming .htaccess.
It is a hosting company in Spain, webempresa.
Sorry, hope you won't get tired of helping out people like us.

I have just taken a look at your hosts and they are not suitable for a serious website. I suggest that you take a look at their latest reviews. Save yourself grief and find a better host.

Re: Akeeba restoration in live site giving error
This is webempresa "tagline" : 'web hosting made for you specialising in Wordpress'.
That's a broken record these days, more and more common. That shouldn't affect your ability to move a Joomla site even by the manual method, FTP the files from PC to web host and move the database using phpMyAdmin.
For a decent web host, moderately priced (in my opinion) and reasonable value for money for the price is Scala Web Hosting, recommended by a forum member. I use their base VPS plan, good value for what you get and a less complicated Web Host Manager control panel (not cPanel).
I have had no issues migrating sites from WAMPServer to live host (no matter what the web host was) whether by Akeeba method or manual method.

If I create a folder within the public_html and do the extraction, how should I write the URL? dominio.com/joomla5/kickstart.ph?AMurray wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2024 9:45 pm This is webempresa "tagline" : 'web hosting made for you specialising in Wordpress'.

It will put the contents within the folder?
When it is there, I will save the actual contents of public_html in another folder and replace it with the ones in Joomla 5. Will it work?

But the cookie banner is not showing. I already inserted the code for the cookie banner.
I am using Cassiopeia as template.
