remove login form from Cassipiea home page and create icon link

I have been trying to do this for days, but cannot figure out how. (I am relatively new to Joomla) I want to place a login link (or icon) in a bar above the Cassopiea home page content and remove the form from the home page. Making the login dialog a modal form would be useful as well, but i cannot figure out how to do it. I saw a forum post regarding this but it was over 14 years old and for a totally different theme, no longer applicable. Can anyone provide some guidance or point me to a video or article? Thanks

1. Go to System > Manage > Site Plugins and unpublish the module Login Form.

2. Create new menu item for the Main Menu of type Users > Login Form. Add an icon to the menu item if you wish.

It is a module not a plugin!!
