Ordering articles alphabetically

Post by irosas » Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:12 am

Hi! I’m using a category list menu item to show a list of articles. The list is showing 2 columns: title and created date. When the user clicks on the Title column heading, I’d like the list to be ordered alphabetically using the article aliases instead of the titles. This because the titles have a lot of punctuation that interferes with the alpha ordering. The site is in Spanish and it’s about language so omitting the punctuation is not an option. How csn I do this? Thanks!

You should be ale to do this with a template override. Go to System / Site Templates / Cassiopeia Details and Files. Select the Create Overrides tab and then com_content. Select the Category item. In the Editor tab select html / com_content / category / default_articles.php. In the override file section find line 130 and change a.title to a.alias.

The snag is the first page load may order by title anyway. This only changes the order column on using the heading to reorder the column.
