For sites created with the affected 5.2.0 packages, an automated solution updating the permissions of affected files and folders will be shipped with the next regular 5.2.x release. Site owners can either wait for that release or update the permissions manually.

Does that mean, an update of a 5.2.0 installation to 5.2.1 will not fix the permission problem?
Does that mean a version like 5.2.2 will fix a 5.2.0 installation?

I’ve read it as:

1. New installations of 5.2.0 may have issues with lax permissions.
2. New installations of 5.2.1 will not have issues with lax permissions but will not correct new 5.2.0 installations.
3. New installations of, or updates to, versions subsequent to 5.2.1 will correct lax permissions on new 5.2.0 installations.
4. Updates to 5.2.0 from earlier versions are not affected by the permissions issue.

Install Admin Tools Core (it’s free). Setting/changing default file and folder permissions is one of it’s many useful functions
