The SELECT would examine more than MAX_JOIN_SIZE

Post by straetch » Wed Nov 27, 2024 4:49 pm

Each time I update Joomla, I get this message:

I examined many posts on the Joomla forum.
I understood that in J4 the problem was solved and I should have received that message once at the next Joomla update and then no more.
Before, I systematically applied the prescribed patch on MysqliDriver.php.
But after several updates I still get the error message, although the site seems to be working well.
As a safety precaution I still apply the patch.

Although the site seems to be working well, I am still worried.

Latest update: J5.2.0 to J5.2.2
My provider is one.com

one.com have set the MAX_JOIN_SIZE value to low on their database servers.

Understood.
I refer to #41156 where this problem is apparently solved within J4.3 with the note that the problem may appear only once. In my case the problem persists with subsequent updates.

It is unfortunate that one.com does not change the database server settings.
However I cannot consider changing provider.
I look for a workable solution in the current context.

I have the following questions:
1. Is it safe to disregard the error message as the site seems to work as expected after a Joomla update?
2. If it is safe it would be best to give a warning instead of an error message. Certainly the advice to restore from backup is wrong: this way any future Joomla update becomes impossible.
3. Does the MysqliDriver.php patch fully guarantee that the following J5 update is safe?

Please pardon my confusion.
