How To Remove The Parent Item URL From Subpage Links In Joomla 5?

Post by thanhhx » Tue Oct 29, 2024 8:44 am

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to remove the Parent Item URL from the links of submenu pages. I'd like the URLs of my submenu pages to display independently, without showing the Parent Item part. However, I'm not sure how to do this in Joomla 5. If anyone has a solution or can guide me through the steps, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi

As we all Joomla versions, you must create direct menu links to these subitems to avoid having the parent item.

These direct menu items don't have to be visible, you can set them to "Hidden" so that your visitors don't see them.

Joomla creates the URL based on the menu structure: mysite.tld/menu-item/submenu-item/etc.

You could look at extensions for menus:
https://extensions.joomla.org/tags/menu-systems/

Or use aliases. Upside: no additional extension. Downside: double work
A. Create a (hidden) menu with your menu-items, or use an existing menu and set your menu-items to not to display (see tab Link type in menu item edit).
B. Create a menu with menu-headings and submenu items of type alias to menu-items in the menu mentioned at point A.
