Schema itemtype not being added...

Post by GPixels » Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:50 pm

I noticed the Joomla "News" blog has the schema itemtype added:

Code: Select all

<div class="com-content-article item-page" itemscope="" itemtype="https://schema.org/Article">
But in my website, the itemscope and itemtype anything in pages. I looked at the core template files but there isn't anything to add schema.

Am I missing something here? I am using RSSEO extension but it adds details at the bottom of the page source code. However, should Joomla not be adding the scope and types to the various elements of the article, headings, etc?

Hi
However, should Joomla not be adding the scope and types to the various elements of the article, headings, etc?
Joomla has now switched to generating Schema as JSON-LD, if you manually configure it to do so on a per item basis. SEO extensions such as RSSEO, 4SEO or GSD are needed to automatically generate schema based on global configuration rules.

What you posted above is microdata which Joomla does not use anymore but:

- you may be using Joomla 3?
- or this is generated by your template?

Hi

So there should not be any such micro-data markup in your content, and it's likely not coming from Joomla but from your template or an extension.
