Can't upload images with special characters in the file name

Hi,
every time I try to upload an image through the media manager with a ñ in the file name, Joomla changes the file name and replaces that character with a n.
How can I avoid this?

What language is admin?

admin and site language are Spanish (es-ES) and the database encoding is utf8mb4_general_ci

The image name will become part of the url which must consist of ASCII characters. ñ is a non-ASCII character.

Is the Unicode Aliases Option enabled in Global Configuration?
