Editing Helix Ultimate in Joomla 5

Post by colin99 » Mon Oct 30, 2023 11:18 pm

Editing template options in Helix Ultimate in the Admin area on my test Joomla 5 site
results in a whoopsie 500 error (and in my mind, several bars of Van Halen music....)

But this comes as no surprise - Joomla 5 is in its early infancy stage - still in birth pangs...
and I do not expect much to work perfectly...

So... heads up...

And if you want to test Joomla 5...
Well... Go ahead....

Please turn on error reporting and debug to reveal the real errors. Post them here for other's benefit and reference.

Joomshaper has released a J5 compatible Helix Framework, Helix Ultimate and SP Page Builder versions just recently (this week). Your joomla extensions update should have alerted you to those updates.

The main error:

Attempted to call an undefined method named "sanitizeAssetsForJ5" of class "PlgSystemHelixultimate".

Did you update as suggested above? Can you report the error on Joomshaper's forum? Can you provide the stack trace (from the debug)? The above is surely not everything it's reporting.

The debug trace should tell you exactly what plugin or code is causing the error (that will help Joomshaper fix it).

But as it stands, it seems the error is in the Helix Framework plugin.

However, this forum post says "don't use Helix on J5...." : https://www.joomshaper.com/forum/question/28219.

According to my extensions manager, everything is up to date...

Do you have a LINK to these downloads? I went to the Site and found mostly templates for sale...

As we know, the update servers were a bit squirrelly this week - so these may have been missed.

Isn't this the link you want:
https://www.joomshaper.com/joomla-templ ... ixultimate

Download both plugin and template (not the quickstart). Then install/update the plugin first then the template.

Your Joomla should be picking up these as updates through Extension Update.

I thought the update server problem concerned Joomla's update server, not all third-party update servers.

Issue now fixed after uploading the latest PLUGIN and TEMPLATE...

"Stack Trace Debug..." Not quite sure what that is -- but I will now find out.

I have been so lucky with Joomla through the years that I rarely have exquisitely ugly flame outs with pages of debugging info. Lucky me.

Glad the issue is resolved.

For future (or any other forum users coming across this thread), note that Debug and Error Reporting is set in the Global Configuration under System and/or Server sections.

If you don't have backend access set it in the configuration file.

Code: Select all

public $debug = false;
set to

Code: Select all

public $debug = true;
and also:

error reporting:

Code: Select all

public $error_reporting = 'default';
to

Code: Select all

public $error_reporting = 'maximum';
These settings should be temporary. Return them to the former values once this issue is resolved, or once you have posted the additional error messages and stack trace.
