Site Background Color

I'm not quite a newby, been managing 3 websites since Joomla 3.1
(2 NFP association websites and my own personal site)
My problem is that I changed the background colour for one site template to a yellow many years ago. (springwoodfestival.org.au) Joomla 5.1.4
I can add a background image to the whole site using a free joomla extension, "Full Screen Background Image" but the yellow still shows through too much. I have spent many hours trying to find a solution to remove the yellow site background, including using user.css background-color: #cdeefd50; (light blue)
Still no luck.
Help Please?

I think your user.css code should be something like:

adding "body" defines that colour to the entire page or pages.

Noting you have Cassiopeia and a child template of Cassiopeia; which is the active template you're using? Have you updated perhaps the incorrect user.css?

The user-css is in :

I tried your code but the yellow was still on the site. So I tried a workaround with a background image with a white solid layer backing (flattened) with this code on :-

Have a look at https://colours.joomla.com/ it will generate a user.css for you to try.

Before we can help you I recomend cleaning up your css and html.
Clean and well organised CSS and HTML makes maintaining and solving issues with your site/template much easier.

You have:

• Style blocks in your template's index.php file, that's why A.Murrays suggesties did not work. It overrides the css in user.css.
• Styles on html elements, they will always override your css, which makes it almost impossible to re-style, unless you use !important. (Which you shouldn't.) Use classes and style your elements through css in user.css.
• Use correct html: headers are h1,h2,h3 etc, not <p style="font-size:24px;">

I would suggest to start over.
A lot of work, but you'll be happy you did later on.

1. Collect all CSS from user.css, index.php and your content (articles?) into a temporary empty file so it's not lost.
2. Remove all inline styles from index.php and your content, use classes if needed.
3. Set the correct html elements (headers, etc.)
4. Start adding clean css into an empty user.css, use the temporary file mentioned earlier as a reference.

Meanwhile...
1. Yellow background
A. Murrays answer is correct, however... the css that declares the yellow body background is loaded in a style block in your template's index.php. Thus overriding the css set in user.css.

2. Yellow glow in the header
In that same block you have css for .container-header. The yellow glow is declared with box-shadow...
And the url for background image is incomplete.

Look in your template's index.php file for the style block after the breadcrumbs.
