Well, I've never been able to update Joomla 5 to a new version, always getting an error message like, see Attachment

Try rebuilding the update sites in the admin/system/update sites and see if that helps.

In the XAMPP environment it works quite normally, so I have to make the update each time first there and then restore it to the online web site directly on the server site. Very much complicated and annoying, I'm not amused in any way.

did the restart update or resume update options in that error dialogue work? The 'server error' may have nothing to do with Joomla itself.

While it may be unnecessary, can you try setting PHP to 8.2 (the recommended version)?

Did the pre-update check pass all tests? Did it report any extensions that needed to be disabled, updated or uninstalled?

Perhaps start over (restore backup to J! 4.4), and set the front-end template to Cassiopeia. then try the update again. It may be your template interfering (as per FPA: j51_amelia (1.0.0) ). This is a J4 template, but may not work in J5. Was the compatibility plugin enabled?

Not, it did not.

My server (provider) has no PHP 8.2 version, only PHP 8.1.1

Yes, the check passed all tests, no issues with any extension. The template j51_amelia is a template for J4 & 5 and it's running well in another web site with the same characteristics.

So, that said, I have done the update as I always do, first on my PC with XAMPP, then restored it to the server online.

Anyway many thanks for trying to help.

After exploring Joomshaper for the template I am not convinced that the template is Joomla 5.x compatible despite stating a label it is. You cannot buy a Joomla 5 version (!)

Change to the default Joomla 5 version template (Cassiopeia) and check if the site works. Than you know
