DJ Slider and webp?

Post by stuffdone » Tue Dec 31, 2024 7:02 pm

DJ Image Slider

I'm trying reduce bandwidth usage and tried to replace .jpg images with .webp but for some reason the DJ image slider does not display webp ?

I have removed the .jpg and replaced and made appropriate adjustments in settings but no images display

Ideas?

J 5.2.2
Slider v 4.6.2 ( Joomla reports up to date )

You say you have adjusted the settings but have you specifically checked that DJ Image slider accepts the file format *.webp, and also check MIME type (image/webp) is listed in the relevant lists. That might be a setting in DJ Image Slider options or the Joomla Media Manager (I would check both, and update both with the accepted image extension and MIME type).

Your version as stated is 4.6.2 but the JED shows 4.6.6 (April 2024 last update). I don't know why Joomla wouldn't detect that update v4.6.6 being available. (see https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/dj-imageslider/ and if needed download the extension again and update manually).

If none of the above works, you might need to ask the question of the developer - does their extension accept webp format.

I did ask developer but so far no reply.
I'm not sure MIME type is issue with respect to Joomla as webp works everywhere else on site except in the DJ Slider. That said I am going to try again having just updated site to J5

I wanted to get site as close as I could functionally and backup prior to upgrade to eliminate extension warnings. I just went a different way. But now that successfully updated am again going to try the DJ slider extension.

Thanks much for your feed back!

I'm going to look for alternative since DJ does not appear to function with webp images and they have not responded to my inquiry after a number of weeks. I want to conserve both disk space and bandwidth with smaller file types so need a slider that's up to date with current file formats.

Thanks
