Does anyone know of an Image Gallery that can include a title and/or description
Since what appears the total demise of Simple Image Gallery Pro for J4/5, I just can't find a gallery that can include a brief description of the image.
My social history sites with thousands of images had had to use alternatives - meaning loss of the descriptions.
Anyone found an alternative to SIGPro with this feature?
Paul

Re: Does anyone know of an Image Gallery that can include a title and/or description
My thanks for assistance.
Phoca stuff is usually very good but sadly nothing close to what I need.
Their Joomla extensions page does offer a "demo with description and no pop up" which is close to what I need but it is a broken link.
:-(
My thanks again.

I'm not sure what you mean by "A demo with description and no pop-up".
Their demo page is this: https://www.phoca.cz/demo/ and it's not a broken link (?).
There are many alternatives: https://extensions.joomla.org/tags/galleries/

Re: Does anyone know of an Image Gallery that can include a title and/or description
Thanks AMurray
Sorry if not clear.
If you go to their page in JED, https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/phoca-gallery/
they have a link described as "Demo with description and no popup" which to me sounds like a "Gallery with description and no pup up" which is what I want. As stated, the link does not work :-).
Yes there are many, many image galleries but if you are familiar with Simple Image Gallery Pro for J3, it was perfect for my needs but for the past year and more they have been stating that a J4 version will be available soon :-)
Other galleries are simply that - a gallery of images. The only difference between them seems to be cost and arrangement of images. I need descriptions to show with the image and, as it is for a huge numbers of images, a text file entry for each image is not workable.

Here's a simple example.
Sports club with lots of images. Simple galleries will show the images but who does the image show.
ie image of the finalists in a tennis tournament. Who are they?
Of course it can be done individually but too longwinded.

I have what you are looking for! You'll be able to do what you want with SIGE Pro from Kubik Rubik. I've used it on a basic level with a couple of projects and I'm very happy with it!
https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/sige/
While I've never worked with SIG Pro myself, I was initially given the suggestion to try SIGE Pro from Kubik Rubik for a project from a former SIG Pro user and he said he really liked SIGE Pro from Kubik Rubik as a replacement.
By the way, the JED lists the Kubik Rubik extension as only being compatible with J3 but all the Kubik Rubik extensions are updated to work with J4 & J5. Though some are no longer free like their J3 versions were. Viktor is very good at staying on top of updates and responsive to questions should you have any.

Re: Does anyone know of an Image Gallery that can include a title and/or description
Thanks - I did have to switch over my 1600+ page site (each page with multiple images) to SIGE Pro - which I agree is a good product.
The way I use it is to just create galleries from the individual folders, which SIG did excellently and allowed captions etc. SIGE Pro also does it appears but no option when linking this simple way.
I have to admit I have not delved deep enough, it seems. There appears to be the opportunity to create galleries with captions if libraries set up within SIGE Pro, although it appears fairly long winded.
But thanks for the reply - much appreciated. I will give it a go. Far too tedius for large sites but for my immediate use, it should be fine.
Much appreciated.

Re: Does anyone know of an Image Gallery that can include a title and/or description
As an update. Looked at SIGE in more depth and yes, it does have the ability to do what I need, so many thanks.
It is not suitable for my large sites and the way it sets up the galleries is more manual, certainly not as inuitive as SIG BUT ... they seem on the ball and supportive of their Joomla based clients - unlike some :-(
The thing I dont like is that it creates galleries based on an id number it creates - unlike SIG which uses the folder name. With hundreds of image folders, naming them with a separate id is too confusing.
My big thanks once again!

Hey egdotcom,
Thank you for using my extension SIGE Pro (I'm the developer of Kubik-Rubik Joomla! Extensions).
You don't have to use the ID created by the component; this is just the new way to create galleries in the backend component, allowing you to adjust the image metadata directly in the backend instead of using text files in the file system.
But if you prefer the "old-school" way (using image paths), you may still add your galleries using the image paths in the gallery syntax. You can also download the editor button (part of your Pro subscription) and select the folders easily in a modal window.
If you have any questions, open a new post in my support forum and I'm happy to help you!
Have success!

This is precisely how SIGE Pro works in the default configuration (gallery syntax with image folder).the apprentice wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 2:00 pm Simple Image Gallery was a very simple plugin to install and use {gallery}your_directory_name{/gallery}, I haven't found a plugin as simple and effective so far.
