Error when user try to activate himself in Membership Pro

Hello
When a user register using membership pro. He receives and email asking him to activate himself.
The user receives the email, clicks on the link and then receive an error saying "joomla verification code not found check if your account is already activated and try to log in"
I make sure the user never clicked twice on the link.
After this error, the user tries to log and he is able to logon. So the only problem is, the user receives the error message and thinks something is wrong. If he doesn't try to logon anyway, he will never know he could.
What could be wrong?
I configured options to
Allow user registration yes
new user account activation self
