Issues with Joomla login

Post by bart99hermans » Fri Jan 17, 2025 10:44 pm

Hi all,

First post in these forums for me.

I'm using Joomla user management on my website and currently having some issues and questions.

Some general info: There are a few pages that require login. I added a login module in the side bar on all those pages. The menu items itselves are shown for everyone because I want them to appear in the menu so users can navigate to the page and then login. The articles on the page are only shown for logged in users.

* Issue 1: I have an "edit profile" menu item. On this page the login form is also shown in the body part of the page (but this doesn't bother me). However, since Joomla 5.2.3 clicking the login button (in the body part) doesn't do anything. It just shows the login form again. The same when a user goes to the registration form from here: upon clicking the submit button it doesn't do anything and just reloads the login form. Might this be a bug in Joomla 5.2.3? How can this be reported? See also this thread where no answer was found: viewtopic.php?f=834&p=3738269

* Issue 2: On the other menu items, which are just article blogs, users do not stay on the page when entering wrong credentials. It shows the login form again but this time on the whole page, hiding the module and the page title. While on the "edit profile" page, users stay on the same page if they enter wrong credentials. Please see the attached images. How could I achieve the same for the other pages (so to stay on the page when submitting the login form)?

Best regards,

Bart
