Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.9.19
48 sites updated just great. Thanks to everyone involved.
For those of you in the last thread (3.9.18) where we talked about testing, I joined the CMS Release Team after that and we wrote up a nice simple doc for people to test new releases with. It's at https://docs.joomla.org/Pre-Release_Testing. Peter is now posting when new RCs are out in the Announcement Forum if y'all want to subscribe to that forum to see when they're out and test. We get them one week before the stable version is released. It's a six week release cycle. So if anyone would like to test, that would be GREAT! The more testers the better the releases.
We're also working on a component so that there's a checklist for testing...but that's gonna take a while. Anyways, all the directions are in the doc. Please do help test. If you'd like to join the release team itself, check out the Get Involved tab of https://volunteers.joomla.org/teams/cms-release-team.

20+ sites updated smoothly. Thanks!
The fact that an opinion is widely held is no evidence whatsoever that it is not utterly absurd.

Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.9.19 (Release notes)
Peter: the link in the release note "Extend the checks to make sure only real user admins can create accounts" to github item #28948 is not correct! Item #28948 is about somethingh with jQuery!
It should be https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/pull/24738
This change by the way, broke the possibility to allow for a more or less regular user to activate new user accounts from the front end. I don't think that was intended? (I really don't want tot make my communications officer an admin ;-)

Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.9.19
Is there a place to give feedback on the Joomla 3.9.20 Release Candidate?

Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.9.19
Good question, Luke. No, the forum does not seem to be the right place to provide feedback about RC versions of software. Feedback, should you wish to offer it, can be made at issues.joomla.org; there is more information about what to test, how to test and how to offer feedback at https://docs.joomla.org/Pre-Release_Testing. I hope that helps.
This discussion thread is probably as good as anywhere else to talk about J! 3.9.20 RC, I guess.

Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.9.19
I replicated one of my simple clients websites with a new database, installed the 3.9.19 RC, tested and I saw no issues. I will do this on a more complicated site and provide further feedback.

Testing alpha, beta and RC versions is always valuable.LukeDouglas wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 10:15 pmI replicated one of my simple clients websites with a new database, installed the 3.9.19 RC, tested and I saw no issues. I will do this on a more complicated site and provide further feedback.
A discussion forum for RC versions in particular would be a welcome addition, I feel. Many users are not familiar with reporting/posting via github so maybe this would help provide feedback?

Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.9.19
If there were a board on the forum for beta releases Release candidates that would probably cause confusion for newbies. It would possible cause newbies to think it was legitimate to use them on live sites. issues.joomla.org provides an environment for presenting and discussing problems/improvements of beta releases Release candidates.
