Hi Joomla Team
amazing, finally I got my customer to update to Joomla 4.3.x, what's wasn't easy.
Also the main components are now slowly there for J4.

now the same again? Nice, I understand that you will move forward but what is the price?
There today 385 Extension with J5 support. Of course not they we are using.

In the moment I not really what to say, the words in my mind everything else then nice.
No one force you to update.. easy as that.

Administration for Helix framework doesn't work in J5, and no Font Awesome 5.
On Monday, the new version 2.0.16 will be released if all goes well! https://www.joomshaper.com/forum/questi ... wer-134449
Thank you! It will be tomorrow but I installed from link in their forum and can see this, so I hope they will repair that.
I also tried that link, but that plug-in didn't work well for me also because the template update/file wasn't there yet.
Just downloaded the template + plug-in via the link below and installed it manually and everything is running super with Joomla 5 :)

There today 385 Extension with J5 support.
Right now, one week later, JED has 694 Joomla 5 extensions and 338 extensions that depend on the Joomla 5 Behaviour - Backward Compatibility plugin.

How is your Joomla Update Channel configured?

See: System > (Update) Joomla > [Options] > Update Channel
Default = updates for current J4 versions
Joomla Next = updates for higher versions (currently J5)

How can someone give this advice
Just go to setting * and set to default (Joomla 4) and not next (Joomla 5).

* System, On UPDATE tab choose JOOMLA. After that click Options on top and select Default.
Using Joomla since 2005.

AFAIK disabling the update notification just stops the emails, not update notices in your site.

Well I finally tested updating to j5. Unistalled old extensions. There were Warnings about JCE and Akeeba which I happily ignored. Update went fine and Akeeba gave clear instructions what to do to update it.

The only problem is The top menu, does not open on hover. I have found some code to work that but it only works for two levels. There are few menu extensions that work with j5 and they are limited.

The admin area is still badly designed but doubt that will be fixed.

Auto-opening/expanding menus on hover seem to be a thing of the past. They're not a11y-friendly and yoy can't hover on a tablet. These days people go for tap/click ==> action.

Rubbish. Just tap the burger menu then swipe right on a parent item to reveal the child items. Besides which you can define different menu modules for mobiles/tablets.

Compared to having menu items for editing and installing extensions close to each other. There are too many examples to list here.

Upgraded from v4.4.0 to 5.0.0 this morning. Other than my own ignorance regarding Tiny MCE and a browser hard-reset, all went smoothly.

Select the Default update condition to receive J4 only messages.

Good one, thanks. My settings were (from the last update 3->4) still on Joomla next. That does not get reset after the update apparently. Which IMHO is a blunder, as updating early on a new major x.0.0 almost never works for more complex sites. Just too many incompatibilities.

For the joomla 3->4 upgrade it took until almost EOL for joomla 3 before really the big majority of 3rd party extensions were compatible (and some inactive ones did not make it, but that is the cruft you gotta cut at some point). Hopefully with j5 being considered just an "update" this stabilization will happen a bit earlier! :o
Upgrading J3->4 was a royal PITA.
