I'm having a quiet chuckle to myself here: J! 3.7.5 makes one change, to one file in the installation folder (which no-one will see if they're updating), and otherwise only changes Joomla's version number (which is stored in the database). I will bet money right now that, within a day, we'll see a question asked on the forum that goes like this:
I just updated from J! 3.7.4 to J! 3.7.5 and my site is all broken ...

Well, you know, changing the version class file and the XML manifest are risky business :-D

I don't know if I want to take the chance. I may have to wait a few weeks to see if anyone has any problems, Hehe :D

So far so good: eight sites updated (also gave me a good opportunity to review the way I was running the "backup on update" settings so as to improve the speed of the update procedure) and all good. I'll continue with updating some more J! 3.7.4 sites tomorrow and in the succeeding days ahead. 8)

its amazingly TRUE, as just predicted

I just upgraded our DEV server from 3.7.4 to 3.7.5 ... upgrade went fine, but the front end is DEAD!

ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED

Backend is still working fine!

Apparently 3.7.5 upgrade also somehow scrambles the GZIP setting in Joomla.

(Now I have to set GZIP Compression to OFF in the Global Configuration | Server Settings to make the front end work again - it was ON before the upgrade!).

Can somebody check it?

I checked

1) The update from J! 3.7.4 to J! 3.7.5 does not change the setting Global Configuration » Server » Server Settings » Gzip Page Compression
2) If the setting was Off before the update then the setting remains Off after the update.
3) If the setting was On before the update then the setting remains On after the update.
4) It doesn't matter (in the several tests that I ran) if the setting was On or Off: the frontend was displayed.

These tests were conducted on several J! 3.7.5 websites using Protostar template.

My conclusions are that the update does not (a) change the Global Configuration settings and (b) does not affect the functioning of the frontend regardless of using GZIP compression.

It does not. The only thing which was changed in this release was a correction/patch to the Joomla installer script (new full installations). Nothing else was changed
