Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.8.1
First, I was seriously happy to see 3.8....but there is one thing that is really annoying and upsetting....the new function of the filter for categories on articles. Before, you click the field and get the selection and then you can easily switch to a different category clicking in the same field.
However, now since 3.8, I see a very annoying and very disorienting function where it has been changed to allow multiple categories (not sure how many people will search more than one). The annoying and disorienting part is when you want to switch to a different category -- you close out the X on the category in the field, and then you lose the whole filter row it was on and everything jumps/moves up back to the original position (this after a few seconds). Then you have to go through it all again. The collapsing and articles suddenly moving upward because the filtered category was removed. Before I could just use the dropdown to select another category and everything stays put.
When I saw Joomla! 3.8.1 come out I went to see if that was changed back...unfortunately no.
Not sure if anyone else has this feeling of the new category filter functionality, but honestly, is very annoying and as I said, very disorienting.

That is your personal experience which seems not to be shared (yet) with others since we have no Issues yet on the Tracker. If you think this should approve please post an Issue on the Tracker https://issues.joomla.org ?GPixels wrote:Not sure if anyone else has this feeling of the new category filter functionality, but honestly, is very annoying and as I said, very disorienting.

If you use any page builder, update it first

Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.8.1
I guess it works if you download latests SP Pagebuilder 2.5.4 and by ftp replace all files from that component if thats is the reason that you can not get to admin of Joomla backend. This was announce long time ago with problem before SP Pagebuilder 2.5.2. You can read more here what to think about from Joomshaper that devs SP Pagebuilder https://www.joomshaper.com/blog/how-to- ... joomla-3-8salehi-dk wrote:Problem is: I cannot come to admin saite, so I cannot update anything right now (

You have 2 options. Or you restore your back up, update the extension first and after joomla, or you disable the extension from phpmyadmin ( in "yourprefix_extensions" locate the row for the extension that you want and with "edit" you change the enabled field from 1 to 0) and after you can login in your backend and you can update the extension by install its latest version.salehi-dk wrote:Problem is: I cannot come to admin saite, so I cannot update anything right now (

If you have tried tried everything and exhausted ideas then I suggest backup your Joomla installation and save it somewhere safe. Now you can try this:
1) Download the full Joomla 3.8.1 zip file and extract it on your hard-disk.
2) In the extracted files, delete the folder called Installation.
3) Upload the entire extracted folder to your host's servers
4) This should make sure you are starting with the good/clean files on the server.
You may not need to do anything with the Extensions because when you upload the new files, they will just overwirte what is already there and not touch anything that is not in J3.8.1 .
Try it anyway as you have the backup and so if this doesn't work, you can simply delete everything and putback the old files from your back-ups.
I have done this way many times in the past so it might just work for you.
Good luck.

Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.8.1
Check if the problem is from your template(check if main menu appears with protostar template) . Also it s good to create your own thread , so your issue can help and other people too.
