Two sites updated, thanks to all.

Only hiccup (not joomla update related) was Akeeba Backup failed in its post-processing to One-Drive, but it resumed, and completed without further complications.

Completed most of my websites—those that I'm going to update today, anyway—and it was boring. Boring in a kind of good way (no mishaps); boring because I'd like to know how many more releases are expected for J! 3.9.x before J! 3.10 emerges ... if it ever gets out of alpha testing, that is. So I won't go off-topic and talk about J! 3.10 or the fact that J! 3.9 started twenty-three versions and two years ago or that the project roadmap is looking a little hard-to-believe these days.

Nice job, J! CMS release team, and kept me occupied while I was waiting for paint to dry before putting the furniture back where it's supposed to be.

Ahhh ... home renovations: where would we be without 'em. Cheers. :)

For some of my sites I get two warnings about updates. How can I prevent this?

What "warnings" are those? What version of J! are you trying to update from?

3.9.22 to .23
I receive emails with: UPDATE INFORMATION. This email is sent to you by your site to remind you of this fact.
The Joomla! project will never contact you directly about available updates of Joomla! on your site.

I wouldn't describe that as a warning. It's just an advisory email letting you know that there's a new version of J! available. When you update your website to J! 3.9.23 these emails will stop. OK? :)

It's normal.

I can think of many reasons (and sources), any one or more of the following possibilities:

* Joomla itself: you may have the update notification (email) plugin enabled

* A third party service like mysites.guru may email you that advice

* A third party security (or other) extension may email you that alert (e.g. Akeeba Admin Tools)

* A third party installer e.g. Softaculous may do that if you installed Joomla using it.

* Your host might also alert you to this, if you have set up the notifications (may depend on the host).

I never enabled this, it's enabled by default. And it appears there are two of them on some sites. But not on the sites I receive double notifications from.

Thanks for showing me this. I'll look further for a solution.
Edit: on one site Joomla! Update Component Update Site is listed twice. It looks like the issue is caused by different reasons on some sites.

The upgrade to 3.9.23 has changed the behaviour of the Send Mail Test function with the mailer option 'SMTP'.

Further details in the topic viewtopic.php?f=728&t=983212 and reported at https://issues.joomla.org/tracker/joomla-cms/31482.

Thanks for this update all seems ok.
Just a small message on one website (1/around 12):
"Joomla\CMS\Cache\Storage\FileStorage::_deleteFolder Vous ne pouvez pas supprimer un répertoire de base."
Don't think there is any pb with this.
Thanks again.

Hi!!first of all thanks for all the work you are doing...amazing!!website updated with no problem...but....i have a question regarding the post installation messages...there,s some pieces of code to be added to .htacces in order to make more security fixes...there,s two of them...the last one i did with no problem, because it says you have to replace one piece of code for another, and show you wich ones...done with no problem...but the first one displays a piece of code to be added, but it doesn,t show if it has to be replaced for the old one, because there,s a very similar code already in the .htaccess file(a code we had to insert some months ago)...there,s a pic attached to this message to show you...so i don,t know if it means i have to replace, or just add, i,m not a proffesional(just doing my own web)and i have concerns if i do wrong i could mess up...and if it,s just adding it...it does,n matter where?thanks a lot in advance!!

Just add it. Or you could use the htaccess.txt that came with this last update, change it's name to .htaccess and replace your current .htaccess with that. That way you know you have the latest version with everything in the correct place.
The fact that an opinion is widely held is no evidence whatsoever that it is not utterly absurd.
