Yeah that is correct...you have to take more of a stepped-back look at the design; the right column isn't really designed as an integrated column, it's more of a column that resides in a wrapper of the site...that's the intention anyway.

Notice how the outer "border" is a shadow for the outer wrapper, it's designed to look like this wrapper is encasing the inner part of the site.

This is why I've not designed it in such a way that if there is nothing in the right column, the main content area does not stretch to fill it - because that's not how I intended the design to work.

Kinda hard to explain...but I hope that makes some sense :)

Thanks for your answer. I just wanted to make sure that this is how it's suppose to be.
Again, nice job with the template.

I don't know why, but on Linux Firefox the background colors of the dark template (content_mid.png) look a bit "washed out".

However, on Windows Firefox it looks ok.

Weird...the BG's are just PNG24's exported straight from a FW source file.  I obviously have no control over how different browsers render the images, very odd though!

Can you please do a larger screenshot...I'm especially interested to see how the bottom of this container looks (the slice for the mid-section is very small, whereas the bottom bit is larger).

Also, how does it look in light mode?

Yes, it's weird, it's supposed to be the same program (different OS only).

Can you please do me a huge favour and upload the attached replacement PNG to:

/templates/tbc_fivepoint_unity/images/dark/content_mid.png

on your server.  It's a slightly taller slice of that background.  I just want to see if that makes a difference.

Cheers

Hey first off EXCELLENT TEMPLATE!!!  By far the best in the contest!!!

I am having one small problem with the template.  I downloaded you 1.0.2 version and installed it tonight and have not been able to edit the parameters.  When I click the template to edit it, I get the following:
DetailsName:  toolbox:creations fivepoint/unity Joomla! 1.5 Template
Description:  fivepoint/unity is a CSS, table-less, feature-packed template for Joomla! 1.5.
Menu AssignmentMenus:  Cannot assign Default Template

ParametersThe Parameter-File /templates/tbc_fivepoint_unity/params.ini is Writable!
Fatal error: Cannot access empty property in /home/wowcatal/public_html/libraries/joomla/registry/registry.php on line 145
This may not be a problem with the template at all... I am a bit new to Joomla so I couldnt tell you.  But I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem and knew a fix??

Hmm...all I can suggest is that you have proper access rights to params.ini, check the CHMOD status on the server.

Have you tried the same thing with another template?

Yes I have been able to access and edit the parameters of other templates with no problems, thats what is stumping me here.

Can you CHMOD params.ini to 777 to see if that works?

Hmm...all I can do is try to replicate this, but I've never come across it (and you're the first on this thread) so am at a bit of a loss really.

Will report back if I find anything out...

Thanks!

Now updated to V1.0.3, featuring:

- A handful of minor CSS tweaks, just to correct some very small positioning and layout niggles
- Removed the forced lower-case from content headings
- Added a parameter to enable the user to change the primary font style
- Added a parameter to changed the default body font size
- Added styling to table.contenttoc for inline content table-of-contents
- Added an additional image for the left-column active menu "star"
- Added ten new typography "notices" - see http://demo.toolboxcreations.com/fivepoint/typography for examples

Additional tutorials and documentation coming soon...  :D

I have installed the template.  The problem is it won't let me set it as default.  When I click Default the star just disappears off of whatever was the current default.

The 2 default templates work just fine.

Any ideas?

I'm playing around with this template at the moment - it's looking really good so far and it gets my vote.

One question though if I may. I want to modify the footer but I can't find where this is done. I've removed the W3C validation stuff and that's fine but I want to replace the "Copyright © 2007 Open Source Matters. All Rights Reserved.
Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License." with just the copyright notice and a link, also I want to remove the "Joomla Gear" image.

Would you mind pointing me in the right direction please?

Thanks for the feedback!

This is very easy: simply unpublish the "Footer" and "Banner" modules from the Footer position via the module manager - that will take care of the remaining two items.

To add your own copyright notice, just create a new user module and insert the text you want to show, then publish to the Footer position...

Thanks for the quick reply  :)

Yes I can do that but what I wanted to do was modify the existing footer so as to display a different image and to change the text but I can't find where these are actually located. On Joomla 1 sites all I've done previously is to mod the /includes/footer.php accordingly.

Me again!  :-[

Found a little glitch.

If the right column is collapsed then the header images move out of line and show about 20px worth of white space above. Is there a fix for this or am I doing soemthing wrong?

It should look like this when collapsed (see attached).  If yours is different then I have no idea what's happening, I cannot see any problems when I test it out.

Please supply a URL, or at least a screengrab...

Ok only a small update this one (I'll update the package shortly).

For anyone who wants to manually fix (saves the effort of reinstalling):

Line 141-145 of index.php:

Code: Select all

<div id="rightcol" style="width:<?php echo $this->params->get('rightColWidth'); ?>px;">
     <div id="rightcolpad">
          <jdoc:include type="modules" name="right" style="xhtml" />
     </div>
</div>
Change to:

Code: Select all

<?php if ($this->countModules('right') or $this->countModules('syndicate')) : ?>
     <div id="rightcol" style="width:<?php echo $this->params->get('rightColWidth'); ?>px;">
          <div id="rightcolpad">
               <jdoc:include type="modules" name="right" style="xhtml" />
          </div>
     </div>
<?php endif; ?>
Cheers
