Invitation to all GHOP students
To all current and prospective GHOP students,
I'd like to personally invite all of you to join us for the first Joomla! Doc Camp event which will take place this coming weekend. Full details here: http://docs.joomla.org/Joomla%21_Doc_Camp . Although we have two real-world locations (Vancouver, Canada and Brussels, Belgium) you can take part by simply joining us online.
So if you are free at any time during the 19th, 20th or 21st January, please drop by and lend a hand. It revolves around a website (http://docs.joomla.org) and an IRC channel (#joomladocs @ freenode).
Many of you have been involved in documentation tasks and most of the material that you have produced will be integrated into the official documentation over time. I have already begun storing all the deliverables from the Contest on docs.joomla.org so they form a central resource that we can all refer to. The front-end for the repository can be found here: http://docs.joomla.org/GHOP_Contest_Repository
This is an opportunity to work directly on the official documentation, live and in real-time. You are all equally welcome whether you have been involved in a documentation task or not. It promises to be lots of fun. I hope you can make it.
Regards,
Chris.

Re: Invitation to all GHOP students
I'd love to try and get in on this. But, I have a question.
How do I get on the IRC channel? I've never used one before

Re: Invitation to all GHOP students
I am happy to work with any of the GHOP contestants on the Doc Camp, too. We could be a virtual team, for whomever wants to participate.
If you want to try to IRC, consider using ChatZilla - or - if you, like me, cannot connect to IRC, there are websites like http://ircatwork.com/ that allow you to use IRC via a web browser.
We can also work together as a team using IM - GMail - MSN - or Skype chat.
Thanks, Chris, for the invitation!
Amy
Wow! While I was typing, two of you came in!

I'll be sure to join in through IRC.
I probably can only make it for a few hours, maybe less. Would that be ok?

Re: Invitation to all GHOP students
Hi,
I shall see what I can do!
How is this going to work with timezones?
I can find time on Saturday 19th AEST. I won't be able to get on at all on Monday 21st because I am at Melburne University "Academic Advice Day".
Hopefuly I will make it online when others are!
Cheers,
James

I think it will doc camp 24/7, so just show up when you can.

Re: Invitation to all GHOP students
It appears some people have started the party already!
I'll be around from 9AM GMT on Saturday and barring the odd break I'm planning to be around until 2AM GMT on Sunday (if I can stay awake that long). I'll be dropping in from time to time on Sunday, then I'll be back "on duty" for as much of Monday as I can manage.
But feel free to start right now if you want. Have some popcorn to get you in the mood.
Regards,
Chris.
