Gallery2 sidebar module does show ALL sidebar elements

Post by slomoman » Fri Nov 02, 2007 8:55 am

I am using the gallery2 bridge for joomla1.0, and it seems to work quite nice so far.
I also use the sidebar module, which displays element actions from gallery2 in a joomla module.
Now, for most of the gallery2 pages, the actions are displayed correctly in the joomla sidebar.
However, for some of the pages (for example the page to add an image to an ablum), these element are not displayed in the joomla sidebar, but in the gallery sidebar (which is hidden on the pages where it works).
What can I do?

I didnt find a fix, but a workaround.
You can edit the Gallery2 Templates to hide the gallery2-sidebars.
Editing the templates is easier than you might think:
Have a look, for example in ...\htdocs\...\gallery2\themes\matrix\templates.

Thanks slomoman for your reply!

I can see editing the Gallery2 templates can remove the menu links from the main 'Gallery2 area' in the body of the page, but how will this make the missing links appear in the Gallery2 Sidebar module?

I need to show the Gallery admin links in the sidebar module so that users can add and move photos etc via the sidebar menu.

Have you made this work too? I'd like to know how.

Thanks.

Woody

Hi Woodie,
i have not found a solution for this.
Most of the sidebar actions are displayed correctly in the joomla sidebar. I just removed the remaining ones from the templates, so that they were not shown at all. I could live with this.
On top of this, you can try a configuation which displays the actions underneath the images as a dropdown (somewhere in the configuration of the gallery2 themes). Maybe this helps you.

Thanks for your time replying - I'd like to get it working properly with all the menu links showing correctly.

Perhaps someone else can help with a fix? Hope so!!

If you are reading this, PLEASE POST if you know how to get the Gallery2 Sidebar Module displaying all the admin links correctly.

Thanks,

Woodie  :)

Does anyone have Gallery2 Sidebar so that it contains all the admin links?

I read another post that said the admin links were embedded into Gallery2 and therefore could not be displayed in the Sidebar - if so this a real shame as I'm running a community site with Gallery2 'user albums' and I need users to have easy access to the admin functions for their albums.

Without the Sidebar module, there isn't enough screen width - it would be such a great fix if it worked!

PLEASE post if you have encountered this issue OR have a fix (or hack).

Thanks,

Woody

Anyone ever find a fix for this because I have not been able to get the sidebar to show anything?
