Re: Template Contest Entry - [JA Purity]
I am having a problem with JA Purity and AJAX Vote, it happens only with I.E.7, firefox works like a charm.
A friend told me it looks like a layers order problem but I have no idea where to fix it, please help.
This is the url: http://www.bizboost.es you will see the rating stars overlaping the menu when it should act just the oposite.
Saludos, Yosu.

From the looks of this template, it looks like a good one to use for template matching a shopping cart that isn't Virtuemart.. Yes? No?

I already tried that.Quads wrote:Post in the Joomlart forum.Maffu wrote:I don't think they care anymore.

I had to ask four times before I got a reply - which was just some bloke calling me an 'immature intellectual property pirate'.

Re: Template Contest Entry - [JA Purity]
There seems to be about 3 theme colors for this template. Pale green, light blue and a light black color.
Would anyone like to speculate on a procedure for creating another color theme?
If we can come up with a procedure, i would be glad to write it out properly and post it somewhere so that others could use the instructions to create a new color theme for their website using this template.
How difficult would it be to make one of the theme colors RED for instance?
Anyone?...I'm not good at this myself!
John.

Re: Template Contest Entry - [JA Purity]
You're halfway there. Publish your module to "hornav"yerg wrote:Website is local right now <sigh>
What module position is the menu at the top published to?
I'd think hornav
If so that's where I have it published ... it just won't appear
---- edit ----
After trying every possible combination of meny styles and module attributes I can get it to appear if I publish it as legacy-horizontal
No way I can get JAMoo or Suckerfish to function at all
Menu Style="List"
Always show submenu items="yes"
Under advanced parameters, clear "menu class suffix"
Save and reload.

I think we need some kind of sticky message in that forum with all the details that are posted in post Number.1 of this message. Things like what the template looks like and instructions for using the template.
It would be nice to start collecting valuable info about this template in sticky messages there.
Maybe even get this message moved and stickied in the new forum. You could just leave a "Shadow" here when the message is moved!

I totally agree. I've been looking for a nice template for one of my sites whole day and this seems to be the best one as for me.matthewhayashida wrote:The collapsible modules are a nice touch.

I notice that it is slower than others on the two sites I'm running it on.dax702 wrote:Does no one else notice how slow this template loads??
What kind of response / load times are you getting with it?
I range anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds depending on network traffic. Generally speaking, 3 to 4 seconds.

Re: Template Contest Entry - [JA Purity]
It's not so much the time, but the fact that when I go to a JA Purity website, all I see is a completely blank white page for "a while" and then everything pops up all at once. I much prefer to see all the pieces of the site load one by one. But with this, it seems like it's loading the whole thing behind the scenes and then just plopping it on the screen. I even have my firefox tweaked so that it loads pages faster.

Re: Template Contest Entry - [JA Purity]
Well, I guess as a comparison you can look at the two sites where I have it running.
http://www.pcpotato.com and http://www.diverscove.net
A few slight tweaks to the column width and header images but otherwise, pretty much out of the box as far as everything else goes.

Quads - very interesting!
I experienced the same delay on the first link, but the diverscove site loaded almost instantly (and that was after clearing my cache) What, if anything, have you done differently on the diverscove site? I was amazed how quickly that one loads.

Both sites have the same mids (narrower LHS module / column) and the same mods to the header (height / images), and (how's this to throw a monkey wrench in it) they are both running off the same server.
The only thing that may have some effect on it would be the size of the db, which the pcp db is about 4X larger than the dc site. However upon entry, all you are pulling are the top layer / front page stories.
So, that being said, there really is no rhyme or reason?!?!
What site are you working with? I'll give you my FF / Faster Fox load times for a comparison if you wish.

Re: Template Contest Entry - [JA Purity]
Very odd.. Well I don't actually have a website yet. I'm just evaluating various templates. And this was something I noticed about the Purity template. if you clear your cache and load each of the two sites you listed, do you get the same behavior as I did?

With a cleared / fresh cache, I load both of them in the same about of time.dax702 wrote:Very odd.. Well I don't actually have a website yet. I'm just evaluating various templates. About 3 or so seconds of whitespace, and then the images and text come down the pipe.
Both pages load in +/- 5 seconds per FasterFox (running default / no prefetch, hacks, etc.)
Close the tab, reload each, they come up in 1.8 (pcp) and 1.6 (dc) seconds respectively.
Comparing this theme to others, me thinks the graphics may be a little heavy, and the css may not be as streamlined / clean as it could be.
Hopefully that is of some help to you.

I have the same question, how to change to width of distance A?John37309 wrote:Which page of the code and what piece of code would allow me to change the width of my main menu?
In the following image of this template, i have marked 2 distances, A and B in RED. How would i change these distances to make the main menu more narrow?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you,
John.
Thanks a lot.

find / modify lines 859 and 864
I have mine set to 15 and 85% versus 20 and 80 in the orig. css file.

Re: Template Contest Entry - [JA Purity]
Quads, thank you v much.
I changed as you advised, Distance B narrowed down, but Distance A has no any change. Any other places still need to be modified?
---------------------------------
#ja-mainbody-fr #ja-col1 {
width: 15%;
float: left;
}
#ja-mainbody-fr #ja-contentwrap {
width: 85%;
}
---------------------------------
BTW, your site is really cool, perfect size!

Hmmmm.... what the *H* did I change then?
(pause / ftp current file from server / compare to orig... blah blah blah)
OK... looking at the css file that is running at pcpotato.com and looking at the stock css file which is included in the template pack, these are the changes I have running. Change as you see fit / applicable:
css Line Number / Value
826 / 20%
830 / 80%
835 / 80%
859 / 15%
864 / 85%
I've got a couple of other minor tweaks (logo size, etc.) that shouldn't effect the lhs column that I've not listed.
Hope that helps.
