Καλησπέρα σας και από εμένα. Είμαι καινούριος στο joomla και θα ήθελα να με βοηθήσετε σε κατι.
Λοιπόν έκανα εγκατάσταση κανονικά την 1.5 αλλά δυστυχώς δεν μπορώ να ανεβάσω κανένα component. Δοκίμασα μερικά και κάθε φορά παίρνω το μήνυμα ‘’ Warning! - Failed to move file ‘’. Το legacy το έκανα 1.0 αλλά και πάλι τίποτα. Καμιά ιδέα?
Ένα από αυτά που ήθελα να ανεβάσω ήταν το com_smf_2_0_2

Τελικά βρήκα την λύση. Θέλει να δώσουμε 777 στον tmp φάκελο

Login to your joomla administrator panel.

go to Help->System Info
then click on Directories Permissions Tab and check which directories are still unwriteble, just set the permission/CHMOD to 777 of those directories which are unwriteable through ftp access.Now install any component/module it will works 110%.

I had this same problem and finally figured out that somehow during install the files all went into a subdirectory. I only found this out after dusting off and firing up FrontPage so I could get a better view of how things were sitting. After moving all the contents of the subfolder up a level, it all worked like a charm.

File permissions had nothing to do with my issue.

Be sure that the template you have chosen is a compatible one, or nothing will work!

ποια είναι η σωστή συνταξη τελικά στο configuration.php?
Στα foroums έχω βρει πολλές διαφορετικές λύσεις ..

Might have to check with host for correct tmp and var/log path. In the Admin use the help >> System info like previously mentioned. For dedicated hosting on Godaddy I needed to use "C:\Inetpub\vhosts\whateverdomainname.com\httpdocs/tmp.

If that is your case (permission 777 not working to fix your problem), please chmod your directories that require 777 to 755 always.

Αντιμετωπίζω και εγώ το ίδιο πρόβλημα, μου γράφει "Failed to move file" και δεν κάνει κανένα upload.
Χρησιμοποιούμε OTEnet, και βλέποντάς τις απαντήσεις στο post εδώ είδα ότι και ενεργοποιημένο το tmp σε 777 είναι, και όλος ο δίσκος είναι writable, και legacy έχω - το πρόβλημα παραμένει.

Μήπως κάποιος έχει καμιά άλλη ιδέα;

Agreed. File permission 777 will make your site very vulnerable to hackers.

So if you want to upload files, change it to 777 for a short time upload the file and don't forget to change it back to 644 or other more secured value.

We got this message with Joomla! 1.6.0 Beta5 [ Hope ] 12-July-2010 23:00 GMT while uploading templates (joomspirit_18). Changing chmod for the directories templates and tmp from 755 -> 777 fixed the problem.

This suggestion is very dangerous as you are potentially opening up your website to malicious attacks. By changing the permissions to 777 you are effectively giving free reign to all in sundry to open, execute and modify your files. This is ill advised and reckless in my view.

I found the following article which does a similar thing but with a bit more finesse.

I can take no credit for these Unix commands but they work well (in Ubuntu) and I suggest you use this instead.

Copy the commands with the curly brackets, slashes and semi-colon:

cd /var/www/joomla (This is your joomla location)
sudo find . -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;
sudo find . -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/joomla (This is your joomla location)

Hi there,

Just happened to get this error this morning, silly mistake on my part. Anyhoo, to answer the last questions.

1. Safe mode: This is discouraged as of php 5.3.0 and later. See http://php.net/manual/en/features.safe-mode.php for more details.

2. chmod 777: As stated earlier, also discouraged (and maybe not even allowed by admins).

If you want to change the chmod permissions for your tmp directory, here's the way in Linux (I use Ubuntu, so amend for your preferred OS. Also, assumption, apache www root dir is "/var/www"):
- Open up a Terminal app (Terminal).
- Go to the joomla installed directory, e.g. "cd /var/www/joomla".
- Chances are in Linux you are not logged in as root, so you'll have to use 'sudo' or 'su' before the command and enter the root password when prompted:
- Type "sudo chmod 777 tmp"
- and when finished with your task, type "sudo chmod 755 tmp" to change it back.

3. chown (Linux).

There may be another reason, depending on how you copied over the files into the apache root www directory. Again, amend details as needed for OS/directory/username. If you copied over the files as root or your username, the file ownerships may need to be changed after the copy.

For example, apache default may assume that name and group ownership should be "www-data:www-data" (or similar) for all files. (this can be changed, but let's stay with defaults). To check:
- Open up a Terminal app (Terminal).
- Go to the joomla installed directory, e.g. "cd /var/www/joomla".
- type "ls -al"
and see if all files have the same/correct owner and group settings for Apache. If not, do this:
- "cd /var/www"
- "sudo chown -R www-data:www-data ./joomla"
That'll change all settings for anything in the 'joomla' directory.
