Re: User Access Levels: More or Custom
dhuelsmann thanks, I've looked there, but they just have a few for making 'gold' memberships and such. Basically I need to clone 'Registered' and rename each 'Registered' with a different name as to assign them to a set group.dhuelsmann wrote:Really?? Example:
Say I'm going to have Best Buy, Circuit City and RadioShack Stereo Agents take a test. Say each group has 5 people in them. I want to be able to have them ALL take the test, but I only want to see each group as I needed. I want to see all the scores for Best Buy Agents,, Circuit City Agents and RadioShack Agents.
Is that possible? All by 'user group' and name. GroupJive seems to be close, but not quite.
Thanks for your suggestion.

Hey, thanks, that JacPlus would be AWESOME by what it says it will do. Only now, I use Joomla 1.5 and it ONLY works for Joomla 1.0.15. So close, but no cookies.jackprobe wrote:Hi warrengonline,

Then I stumbled upon this: http://www.kliky.net/howto/multi-level- ... th-joomla/
Now I'm off for more testing and alongside that, ARI Quiz is not functioning correctly - the 'Save' and 'Skip' buttons work at random. Issue after uncontrollable issue. Thanks for all the help and suggestions!

Re: User Access Levels: More or Custom
Jack, thanks JUGA is very nice, I'm glad I discovered the demo. It does half of what I need. I CAN make Groups, say Group A, Group B and Group C, but when I go to make articles made for ONLY Group B, there IS NO such option. Kind of like Public vs Registered vs Special. It just did not seem to work no matter what I did. maybe I did something wrong, but i could not even access the User Manager. So, not sure if the company is checking how much their demo is being tested. I'm going to continue my search.jackprobe wrote:Hi,

Re: User Access Levels: More or Custom
Cris, my efforts a leading down 'the yellow brick road', I've search and found 'hacks' you have to pay for and are not guaranteed to work. I'm probably going to have to breakdown a solid weekend (with chocolate) and with http://devzone.zend.com/article/3403-Bu ... Joomla-1.5dioncristo wrote:Hello Warren,

And make a component along with testing to make sure it does not break anything else in Joomla 1.5. I'm going to skim up to chapter 15 (as I already know the basics of installing and setting up Joomla CMS) and start reading there. But that is my last option.
I'll post anything worth mentioning, so if I go silent, that means I am on the hunt or bagging my head or making progress. Let's hope more of the last option.
Also, for testing purposes, check out: http://www.usbwebserver.com/
Its a webserver on a usbdrive. It is accessed locally on your network, no 'net access'. Its free, so donate when you can. The Root folder is where you want to put your websites(s). You can have dir or multiples and it includes phpmyadmin, mysql and apache Note: It is in Dutch, but easily switched to English.
Anyone else who visits this thread if you have any ideas or suggestions please post them also.
Thanks

Re: User Access Levels: More or Custom
Hi. I need to do the same thing. I need to create more "registered" user groups and rename them so that my site can have restricted access to certain groups. I've posted my Joomla request thread below. Another Joomla forumer suggested create more user groups manually in Joomla. Perhaps it may help you with your search:

Please let me know if this helps you or if you'd tried it already. I haven't tried it yet because I was scared of breaking my site.

Re: User Access Levels: More or Custom
That's odd i need the same thing:
http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=471&t=355139
I got this so far, the best i could find from a fellow dutchman, you can't make groups in user management but in the component you can make groups. Its really wierd and i was wondering why this isn't implemented in Joomla! yet. I saw there where plans for 1.6 to extend the user control in the backend aswel in the frontend. Anyways here the link i found what pritty much does what i want to have:
http://www.joomlapi.com/admin-user-access/
Its not free tho you can use it for some days to test it out. I'll say give it a try.

Yeh, I am not sure if I want to try to put that to the test. I have multiple copies of joomla to test on, but this procedure just seems too 'procedural' as in code heart surgery', but thanks. It help a little with that code.tatterdemalion wrote:Hi. I need to do the same thing. Re: User Access Levels: More or Custom
Very nice xzaz, very nice indeed. My only issue with this is the ioncube requirement. I'm going to TRY to write my own component after I get my hands on Building Websites with Joomla! 1. 5 book. It seems to be sold out everywhere.xzaz wrote:That's odd i need the same thing:

Re: User Access Levels: More or Custom
@warrengonline and others: Any update on this useful requirement? Yep - I am also trying to do what you want to accomplish. Sections/Categories/Articles should be accessible by users belonging to some predefined specific 'user groups' like Group-A, B and/or C.
Incidentally, the link to http://www.joomlapi.com/admin-user-access/ is now invalid. The new URL is http://www.pages-and-items.com/
Thanks in advance.

Re: User Access Levels: More or Custom
Hey everyone, I'm really looking for a free solution to this as I too would like to assign users to groups and subsequently those groups to specific menu/articles. I think JUGA does this but obviously it is a paid for extension.

Re: User Access Levels: More or Custom
Hi,
Does anyone have a working solution to this? I also need to create more Access Levels, as the OP suggested with blue/red/yellow/green.
JUGA doesn't do this, it only creates extra user groups, but one cant' assign / limit menu items to those user groups, so it's pointless.
