How can I get two seperate joomla sites to share one user database with login account information?

Are those installations in the same database with different prefix?

If yes, create a view in the second installation that point to the first.

Code: Select all

drop table jos2_users;
drop table jos2_core_acl_aro;
drop table jos2_core_acl_groups_aro_map;
CREATE VIEW jos2_core_acl_aro AS SELECT * FROM jos1_core_acl_aro;
CREATE VIEW jos2_core_acl_groups_aro_map AS SELECT * FROM jos1_core_acl_groups_aro_map;
CREATE VIEW jos2_users AS SELECT * FROM jos1_users;
Using the database prefixes jos1 and jos2.

Or, you can bridge them with the extension JFusion

What I have is one single database where I'd like to put different mini sites on it, using different templates and changing between sites using itemid.

This is because I want to use the same user account and session on all the mini sites (it's for a TV network, they want the user to be the same between channels).

I am having a nightmare separating the content. Say.. the frontpage. How can I have more than one frontpage to show the content of each channel? I am separating the content using sections (for the channels) and categories (for the tv shows.. another problem here is That I am importing blip.tv videos using feedgator and that one will not parse same content on more than one category.. and guess what, two channels share same tv shows, and they won't get parsed on second section, or second channel...!!! :-\ )

I think it is easier just to share the users, that's why I was asking here about it.

Any ideas??

This jFusion.. fusionates also two joomla installations? Because I see on the info that it fusionates between Joomla and PHPBB3... also Joomla + Joomla??

Thanks in advance. :geek:

Well.
Make two accounts with the same login details.
Easiest way.

I think I will create a view, guess is the best option for my case. I'll try it and post results. Thanks Per!
