Multithumb

Post by prechrchet » Sun Jan 11, 2009 12:28 am

I have been experimenting with multithumb1.5, and I want to exclude certain pages. I have read that all I need to do is insert a {nomultithumbs} tag on the page.

Question: where on the page should I insert it?

Anywhere in your article should work. Also make sure in the multithumb plugin that Exclude pages with {nomultithumb} is set to Yes.

You can also have it apply to only one or x categories if that makes your life easier.
It's a plugin setting towards the bottom

It's also possible to define only that certain pictures with a custom class will be handled by multithumb.
However this does not work correctly in the 2.0beta3 for Joomla 1.5 version. Galleries are not handled correctly.
I've made a fix for this which I will post in this forum.

I've created a new version from MultiThumb which solves some bugs

2.0 alpha 4 for Joomla 1.5

BUG 1) Apply only to these image CSS classes
This functionality is fixed.

BUG 2) Clear cache on next page load
This functionality does not work, I commented out some code to stop showing an error on the screen.

This version can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mmnknqjjmzt.

I've updated some code from multithumb.php to support more nicer borders + shadow.
See below for example:
Image

To enable this, add the following styles to your main css:

Code: Select all

table.multithumb td {border: none;float:left;margin:0px 0px 10px 10px;padding:1px;background:url(../images/shadowAlpha.png) no-repeat bottom right !important;background:url(../images/shadow.gif) no-repeat bottom right;}

img.multithumb {display:block;position:relative;background:#FFF;border:1px solid #ccc;margin:-5px 5px 5px -5px;padding:4px;}
And add the two shadow images to a folder where they can be found. Images can be found here:

hi, stefh,

are you the author of Multithumb plugin? I visited your homepage (http://www.kreacom.dk/mambots/multithum ... la-15.html) but there is NO news about alpha4 version. The latest version on that page is alpha3.

If you are the author, please update that page also.

Thanks.

Hello Baijianpeng,

I'm not the author.
The author is very busy and was not able to answer my emails so I decided to go on for myself and share the results with people who are interested in the code.

BTW I've found that the stylesheet modification in the previous post can be made easier.

The css should be:

Code: Select all

td.multithumb {border: none;float:left;margin:0px 0px 10px 10px;padding:1px;background:url(../images/shadowAlpha.png) no-repeat bottom right !important;background:url(../images/shadow.gif) no-repeat bottom right;}

img.multithumb {display:block;position:relative;background:#FFF;border:1px solid #ccc;margin:-5px 5px 5px -5px;padding:4px;}
If you have more questions, please ask.

Best,
Stef

Hi Steph, I just download your extension, thank you very much!!.. excellent work!!, there is just one question I do have for you, somehow I am not able to solve myself.

I just need thumbnails for the frontpage, not for the article content itself, and it happens that the plug in makes thumbnails for the frontpage and automatically for the article content inside, is it possible to just have thumbnails showing in frontpage and keep the original image size inside the article?

thank you in advace

Would it be possible to add the ability to do the opposite? I have (existing) pages with images on that I'd like to thumbnail some images but not others. For Joomla 1.0.x it was simply a case of not using {mosimage} and dropping the image in with the insert image button, but without {mosimage} multithumb obviously can't do this :( .

I was hoping to be able to apply a class to images I don't want thumbnailed or resized by multithumb, rather than excluding an entire page.

I have some problems with the handling of thumbnails in blog mode (2.0 Alpha 4). I use two colums and have multiple articles with one picture each showing on the blog-page. I deactivated the "read more" link. I set "Link to article" in Multithumb but it will only link the thumb of the first article to that article. The thumb of the second article has the standard greybox activated, and so has the third.

In my opinion there seems to be something wrong with the handling of the first image. It really only applies to the first image on a blog page, even if there are other images in other articles. I attached a screenshot.

Can it be that "Enable Multithumb in these categories only" doesnt work with this version. Not for me!

Edit : THanks for your great support! Works fine now!

I fixed one more multithumb issue related to thumbs and image cache. Original location of cache was under the plugin code directory. Backup systems don't excluded it from backup file. As result a lot of extra files was included into backup.

I moved cache to standard location that I hope ;) excluded from backup.

You can download new fixed version the following location:

Hello! I need to make thumbs of different sizes. Is this possible by simply scaling the images?

You can overriding default values: http://www.kreacom.dk/mambots/multithumb.html#override

use http://www.kreacom.dk/mambots/multithumb/mtparams/ for multithumb tag generation

I have started using bk_multithumb_for_j15_alpha3_fix_02 but can only get the thickbox to work. The other "..box"es e.g. the lightbox opens but just remains blank (white) so no picture appears.

Also, with the thumbnail expansion option when I click a thumbnail the full size pic. appears behing the other thumbs.

Any reason for these errors?

PS what's the reason for the two download versions?
Thanks for your time.

Are you saying the CSS change alone is sufficient or do we need to change some PHP?

I have given up with multithumb as the lightbox would not work. Probably some conflict. I have bought the Pro version of FP slideshow from Joomlaworks. Does the same and all the lightbox versions work out of the box. Good buy for £12.
Thanks for your time.

You can upgrade to 2.4.3 version:

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... mages/9346

For upgrade install a new version without uninstalling the previous one.
