Limit Number of Pages In Site

I would like to be able to limit the number of pages in a Joomla site. For example, one site may have a limit of 50 content pages and another would have a limit of 100 pages. Anybody have an idea, how I could enforce such limits? Would probably have something to do with counting the rows in the content table and not allowing over the limit.

I'd recommend a Content Plugin, run it after Content is saved, give the plugin a parameter[maxContent] and check for the number of Approved/Published articles. If the number if published items is greater than maxContent, than unpublish the article being saved. That way you can have 75 content items, but only 50 can be "active"

We're thinking about offering free sites with a limited number of pages, as a way to introduce people to Joomla and our services.

you need some multiblogging component that way you can manage it better.

Or you need default registration type set to author instead of registered user. But still very few limited features are available with default joomla install and you need a better multipage blogging component for your need. something like wordpress multiuser. Few joomla extensions for blogging are available which can be used for the purpose you require.
