Re: Can't save articles in frontend or backend - 1.5.13
What's even more funny, I didn't have to REINSTALL joomla. I've upgraded it from version 1.5.9, then found this issue, the JUST deleted the mentioned folder, replaced the files, and it worked. Hosting at hostgator.com.
Maybe hardware issues at the hosting company???????

Re: Can't save articles in frontend or backend - 1.5.13
I had the same problem with 2 of my websites. I deleted plugins/editors and uploaded the new one from .14
It solved the problem for 1 site, the other one still had the same problem.
After I noticed the second one had the editor on extended mode, I changed it back to advanced and everything worked

Re: Can't save articles in frontend or backend - 1.5.13
I also have the same problem, even before i did an update!
1) did an upgrade of 1.5.14, set my editor to 'none', no result
2) delete the plugins/editors/ folder and did an upgrade plugin/editors/ from the Joomla_1.5.14-Stable-Full_Package; no result
3) dit an full upgrade to Joomla_1.5.14-Stable-Full_Package; no result
My problem is that none of the 'save/apply/cancel' buttond work, not in the articles/components/Global Configuration etc. so i cant save anything anywhere in de /administrator.
(also before i tried the update from 1.5.8 to 1.5.14)
I looked in IE7, and it seemes that something cant be found ive you save/apply/close: i get an error:
-------
'object expected'
-------
Can it be a server host problem then?? can anybody help?

You certainly know better... This has just been committed:mihalio wrote:Come on, be serious! Joomla is working in php 5.3 but the article buttons are not!
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... m_id=17150
But it is true that your button issue may not be related to php 5.3 (did I write it was ?)
I suggest you test this nightly build and report your findings with a clean install:

oke i'm going to try Nightly-Full_Package version... as soon as possible
(have to inform my customer first about this..)
sorry: with clean install you mean from scratch? and then import the database??
or can i do with FTP and overwrite all the files?
yes, i'm getting nervous too with the idea that the site is offline for a long time..
think i take a beer anyway...

I just mean test with the same settings a NEW clean install with default database and templates. Do NOT touch your present site. Just test this package which is not final and not to use for production.mosselmania wrote: sorry: with clean install you mean from scratch? and then import the database??

Re: Can't save articles in frontend or backend - 1.5.13
ola,
i tried to instaal joomla 1.515 version on a wwwroot/test/ folder , but got an error i'v i try the installation(step 2) in different browsers(cache cleart):
-------
Cookies do not appear to be enabled on your browser client. You will not be able to install the application with this feature disabled. Alternatively, there could also be a problem with the server's session.save_path. If this is the case, please consult your hosting provider if you don't know how to check or fix this yourself.
-----------
had a look around for 'session.save_path' and found that this to be the solution:
editing the .htaccess-file by adding the row
php_value session.save_path /tmp
(or php_value session.save_path /test/tmp ?)
but i already have a .htaccess in my root folder, which should not be affected
can I create a new .htaccess file in my wwwroot/test/ folder?
or do you have another solution?

hi all... if still cant solve the problem after try the suggested ideas as above, you can try this:
go to plugin manager -> Editor - TinyMCE -> set this to Never on "Code cleanup on save"
after you configure this, you shld be able to code in html mode..

Re: Can't save articles in frontend or backend - 1.5.13
oke done, this is now in my .htaccess file(in the folder /test/):
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /test/
so withou the 'php_value' rules
(path error i mail't to the hosting provider, i don't know i've he changed something; if so i let you know).
Oke, so Joomla 1.5.15 test version, see http://community.joomla.org/blogs/commu ... -1515.html with php 5.3 installed:
- admin buttons work again also tinyMCE is working again
- JCE editor 154 installed; everything works fine
Conclusion: problem of 1.5.14, all buttons in the administrator don't work, seems to be caused by the php 5.3 version the host installed.
1.5.15 is not (yet)production version, I don't know i've it makes sense to install the test version already on the website, or wait for the stable version?
I've yes, what is the easiest way? one by one adding all articles again is a lot of work..
and I dont want to mess up the new 1.5.15 version database of course

This also fixed my problems(voting, saving, editing)...thx for this airton!!airton wrote:dmaddox,
Just download the full install package and upload it to your server rewriting the old files (except the installation folder and the configuration.php file).
This will do a full upgrade with no hassle.
Also, there are some files left over from the TinyMCE upgrade that are causing issues (not this one). It'd be good to delete them from the server after upgrading. You can see the complete list here: http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... m_id=17426

Please, all, update to 1.5.15 stable release.

Re: Can't save articles in frontend or backend - 1.5.13
i've learned its best to wait a while before installing a new version. I still run win xp cause vista and win 7 still have a lot of undescovered bugs. As for me the same applies for joomla. Love it, but ill wait.
Think there might also be some bugs in the FCK editor. After i reverted to 1.5.14, everthing was fine. then re enabled the fck editor and it started again. Got it fixed now with a new install of 1.5.14. Like i said. Gonna wait a little while for new editions.

Re: Can't save articles in frontend or backend - 1.5.13
all of a sudden i am having the same problem also with a site that i have been doing updates on for years. what i have noticed is that it will allow me to still add new articles or update existing ones as long as the info in the articles isn't to large, by large i mean more than 50 or 60kb. Very strange because it's only happening on one particular server and with all joomla accounts on that server.
On another server with other joomla accounts i am not having this issues, i can add or edit any articles with no size limitations... any suggestions?
Joseph

Re: Can't save articles in frontend or backend - 1.5.13
Good morning,
I have a site using Joomla 1.5.8 and running on PHP 4.4.6.
The Save and Apply buttons all of a sudden quit working. I want to install Jix so I can transfer content files and take the site down.
But I can's Save or Apply anything.
This is a long thread and I am confused on a solution.
What is the best way to get this operating so I can export the Sections, Categories, and Content using Jix.
I've seen a lot in the post about the default Text editor being the culprit. But I have had JCE editor plugged in for a long time.
Thanks!

Re: Can't save articles in frontend or backend - 1.5.13
Thank you all for trying to help here.
I am having a similar yet VERY specific problem as follows with Joomla 1.5.15:
- I log into the front-end with my superadmin username and password.
- I click to created a new article... The editor (any, I tried several) opens nicely. No problem.
- I add content, set Section and Category, and ensure that dates are valid. No problem.
- I hit the Save button and all appears well.
- When I try to view the new article (via a menu item that lists the category) it does not show in the list of articles.
- When I look in the backend, the new article is listed properly - no problem.
- I can open the article from the backend. If I simply click the "Close" button, the article closes without change. In that case, it still appears in the backend but not in the frontend.
- But if I open the article to edit from the backend, either make some changes or make NO (zero) changes and simply click either Save or Apply, the article saves and NOW shows up in the blog listing.
From my research, I have two suspects: Tiny MCE 2.0 and/or JoomFish (latest). I tried to tweak their parameters but the problem persists. I installed the FCK editor, but without noticeable improvement. It did not matter that I even disabled TinyMCE plugin.
I have tried almost all suggestions here, with the notable exception being total reinstall... I simply have too many things going...
Any ideas, knowledge, whatever are very very welcome. Anything that will help me either understand more or certainly solve this pain...
Thank you.

I am on version 1.5.22 and have a problem saving from front end. Cancel works fine but save doesn't. Everything works fine from the back end.
Deleted the plugin editor directory but nothing changed. The website is http://ibenessere.info

Got the same issue. I have tried to upgrade to J 1.5.23, cleared cache, installed other editors, disabled modules one by one, upgraded original tinymce editor and set "Never" on Code cleanup on save on tinymce. Nothing works... My Save and Cancel buttons still won't work.
In Internet Explorer I get these errors:
