I think the name osm or osom will be a good name to the new CMS, because it remindes the spirit behind all of this: Open Source

Hi all! Just got here...

I was reading part of this looong thread and saw the MyMOS suggestion.. Interesting, but how about a twist?

MyOSM - (My Open Source Matters) - Because it does matter, and managing our matters is what it does....

Oh, and if it doesn't make any sense to you, I blame my upbringing ;)

Just want to share my Idea

Neurox

It sound little bit funky. Inspired from neuron. Parts of body that deliver order/ command from the brain to other part-of-body.Connection with "lastknownasmambo" ,that this deliver the creative idea from the web master/developer or something like that to show on the front end.

And the Second, the sound like New Rock.Which I believe this CMS "lastknownasmambo" wil ROCK'n this virtual world. Will rock "lastknownasmambers".

And the last word

"Sok atuh ku abdi bade didukung ku pinuh hate, mugia tiasa enggal2 rilis, CMS nu baru. nu powerfull siga gatot kaca. Enak ditingal siga ceopt" (Sundanesse languange, one of the biggest tribe in Indonesia)

Oh sorry this is the place to suggest names then... I put it somewhere else but here is my 2 euro cents.... Someone used this word on the front page of this site I think, so I don't claim it as mine:

Fandango

Why?: Fresh direction, not linked to Mam*o except in concept, name available (I think).

(oh no not Boss, no no no. Come on, think about the meaning of the word. Who wants to work with the Boss all day!!!?)

Actually everyone is calling it OSM already, so why not stick with that name ? You look at posts here or on mamboserver...the brand OSM is already in peoples heads.

OSM? Sounds like another boring TLA.

I came to Mamb* because it had groovey graphics and icons (from foood I later discovered) and a name I wasn't embarased about, it was positive and mainly, it did what I wanted i.e. functionality.....

so forget the Mamb* lets Fandango!

If we use Fandango, users (atleast here in the US) will get confused with our program and http://www.fandango.com where you buy movie tickets online.  Fandango.com is huge here, they have commercials on tv all the time.  I like the name, but it won't work.

hello,

your suggestions sound very good, but if you look, most of the domains are already assigned. so take a look for free domains before suggesting them...  ;)

Nevertheless, you know the song from Pain Of Salvation?
All their life on Tolkien's grounds
All their time on islands unfound

Trapped in a Fandango

Watch them dance!
Fandango!
And http://www.fandango-cms.com
is still available.

moscom  x x .org
commos  x a a
opsoma  all          open source matters
gnusom  all
gnusoma  all
gnucom  all
gnumundo  all      (mundo = world in Spanish)...gnu world
abramundo  all      open
vamundo  all          go
mamundo  all        mambo mundo
mosmundo  all
nosmundo  all        our
opsomundo  all      open source world

shagg.com      Covers a lot of ground (pun intended if you're a baseball fan) , is playful, risque,(from the UK?) etc.  PG use for a decade with no real branding.

Well I'm all for OSOM.. it sounds like Awesome.  Its easy to remember, is a good acronym and allows for the domain names to work nicely for the forge and forums sites etc..

Yes this is a good one. The acronym it now has is very good

For what it's worth here are some more possibilities for OSOM

Open Source Only Matters
Open Source Often Matters
Open Source Opinion Matters
Open Source Opinions Matter
Open Source Outstanding Members
Open Source Overcomes Malice (a strong statement)

They're all AWESOME!  ;D

Maybe you can think of more words to go with OSOM?
The best is good enough!

foris :  (latin) a door, opening, entrance.

paleo : (latin) to be revealed, to stand open, to be clear, plain.

voco : (latin) to call, summon, name, invite

lego : (latin) to gather, choose, collect, pass through, read. (yeah, yeah, I know all the arguments against this one, but it would be a great CMS name)

claro : (latin (and spanish)) to make bright or clear, make clear in the mind

Lots of suggestions, now here comes my question, when will we actually decide on one.... is there a date set? if not we should seriously consider setting one up...
