JFTP::delete: Bad response

Post by deggertsen » Tue Jul 22, 2008 7:21 pm

Joomla! 1.5.4 Production/Stable
PHP 5.2.5
Database 5.0.51a
Apache/2.0.63

I keep getting this error recently when I try to make any changes to my site. "JFTP::delete: Bad response". I have seen this error in other topics but usually it is accompanied by other errors. In this case I only receive that error and then I realize that the change that I tried to make, even though it says the changes were saved, were not completely written to the database.

This may be an .htaccess problem as I just recently changed that file in order to mark yes on all the SEO. However I have made those changes on other sites and had no problems in that regard.

Any help here? Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks!

Wierd. I tried to completely delete the site and redo the whole thing but I'm once again getting the error "JFTP::delete: Bad response" every time I try to save or apply any changes. It caused so many problems the last time I'm not afraid to touch anything... What in the world is going on?? I can't find another topic that address this issue so if somebody can direct me to an answer I would really appreciate it!

Another thing to note is that I am only getting the error when I try to update menu items, articles, and modules. Everything else so far seems to save fine.

It seems that this was a stupid problem with a simple solution. :-[

I was thrown off originally because my cache directory and all other directories were writable, however upon closer look all the files contained therein had ownership permissions of 99 99 (unknown user, unknown group). As soon as I was able to get those files back to normal I had no more errors.

What is "normal?"

Normal for my server was to have the user and group set to the user and group that has permissions to change the files and is the same user and group that Joomla! is configured to use. My server is a shared server.

My server is with hostgator, and i was getting the same problem, so I opened up a chat window to them, told them of the problem and where it was occuring and they ran a script for me correcting the file permissions for the dbase and now it works fine...

hi

I have this error message when i try to delete a template (front template not use).
(Joomla v1.5.15, Online)

this error : JFTP::delete: Bad response
with under an alert (blue) : Désinstaller Template Erreur

I have 10 templates to delete but it doesn't want no one...
I check the permissions of directories and files, no problem here.

Not a serious problem, but i would like to "clean up" my site...

Sincerely.

Yes, you can uninstall template from Template directory.
Choose template Name folder and delete it

If you are really using joomla 1.5.4 then you need to upgrade to the latest as soon as you are able, all versions before 1.5.15 have security issues.
