Re: Discussion: Re-installing Joomla 1.5 Core Components
Thanks for this resource. I tried what you suggested, and re-installed the files through the FTP (back-end?), and re-inserted the mySQL code you posted ... it works a bit, but when I click the link on the site for links, it says the component is still not there. I'm thinking that the front-end (joomla admin?) hasn't been done. This is my problem. How do I re-install through the front end if there is no stand alone component? Should I zip the files, and then upload?
Clearer instructions on the steps would help.

Re: Discussion: Re-installing Joomla 1.5 Core Components
I hope that the instructions at http://docs.joomla.org/Reinstalling_del ... extensions are better :-)
From your description I understand that you have copied the /administrator/components/com_componentname/ directory + files.
Could you check if the /components/com_componentname/ directory + files for the front-end are also on the server?

Re: Discussion: Re-installing Joomla 1.5 Core Components
what I did was upload the directory for weblinks via FTP (i don't know if this is front end or back end ... I am assuming it is back-end). I also deleted the mysql for weblinks in my phpAdmin and then inserted the code you posted. This didn't work completely. I am now able to use the links manager, but when I try to access it through the menu on my site, I get a 404 - component not found again.
Basically, the problem was that I was getting a 404 component not found error when I went to weblinks in the joomla admin (I have the same issue when I go to article manager>parameters). So I uninstaled it, and then follower your instructions, re-uploaded the files via FTP, and inserted the mySQL code in phpMyAdmin.
My main area of uncertainty is how do you install on the front-end? I'm guessing it is through joomla admin, install/uninstall. Of course, this won't work unless it is a zipped file with the proper install files. Maybe I am missing something.
So, could you explain in greater detail how to install on the front-end?
Thanks for the link, but it hasn't clarified too much for me.

Re: Discussion: Re-installing Joomla 1.5 Core Components
Can someone tell me which Core Component handles the Login link and the Create an Account link from the Login Form Module? and what code I would need to do in PHPmySQLadmin to re-enable?
Thanks

Re: Discussion: Re-installing Joomla 1.5 Core Components
Okay I have been trying to reinstall newsfeeds on my site. I have gone through all of the steps twice. When I look at the help manual (help.joomla.org) it shows that News Feeds expands to display three options: All Categories, Category, and Individual Feed.
When I look at my site on the Administrator panel: News Feeds does not expand at all. There is just a minus sign. No plus sign. There is no ability to create Categories, Category, or Individual Feed.
What do I need to do to get the three options back?
Thanks,
David

Here is the URL in the help manual that I referenced in my posting above. http://help.joomla.org/index2.php?optio ... News_Feeds
On my Admin panel there is no ability to expand News Feeds and find the three sub categories.

Re: Discussion: Re-installing Joomla 1.5 Core Components
in my case Mass Mail seems to have disappeared when I moved up to 1.5. I see it in the files via FTP, but doesn't show up in the menu in the admin site.

I've edited the Wiki with SQL to create the jos_weblinks table, see:Marcel2434 wrote:ok i folow you post and it's work perfectly but i dont see my table weblink in my data base it's normal. If not can you give me teh sql code to rebuild that table

Re: Discussion: Re-installing Joomla 1.5 Core Components
Hello, this topic is quite related to my problem.
yesterday, I have accidentally deleted my whole component folder and now my website is not working anymore and also I can't access to the administrator's panel.
it says 404 - An error has occurred. Component Not Found
Is there any suggestion?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Discussion: Re-installing Joomla 1.5 Core Components
Do you have a back-up?
Otherwise, I would upload the original component directory again.
That way, Joomla will work again.
Note: you will have to find some other solution for any 3rd party components..

Re: Discussion: Re-installing Joomla 1.5 Core Components
OK, I deleted the weblinks component after another extension screwed something up and I'd neglected to back up weblinks first - and then managed to forget that weblinks is a core component. Won't make those mistakes again
Found and followed the instructions for reinstalling com_weblinks, used phpMyAdmin to run the appropriate sql statements, previous weblinks table and data was still there so didn't need to recreate the table.
Links show up fine now... twice. My data is not duplicated, and I would doubt it's a data problem anyway as the duplication happens both if I set things to view categories or list of links. I suspect there may be something screwy in the sql statement, but I'm really not very familiar with all that, mostly just capable of following instructions!
Here's a link to the page with the duplication:
http://noomoonlandofnod.com/index.php/artists/5
Also, I'm using SimpleLists and after this whole process, I'm getting this error on the page displaying a SimpleLists category:
Fatal error: Class 'WeblinksController' not found in /home/noomoon1/public_html/plugins/content/weblinks.php on line 33
Any clues would be greatly appreciated!!
