Custom Template from 1.0 migrate to 1.5

Post by louroberto » Wed Mar 09, 2011 10:10 pm

Hello All,
I have a project that I am starting on and the version of Joomla is 1.0. The template was custom made on this platform but I want to upgrade it to 1.5. I have installed 1.5 and did a migration from 1.0 to 1.5 on the new install but the template does not work the same way it did in version 1.0. I have both versions running right now so I can try and work back and forth to iron this out. Is this normal? I used a migration tool and created the sql file and uploaded it when I did the new install (load migration file) and everything went successful but when I tried to work on it in 1.5 it would not view as it did in 1.0. I also set the legacy plugin. I am new to Joomla so I am sure I did something wrong. I am reinstalling 1.5 now due to some errors but was wondering if there was nay advice on this. Should I just start designing a new custom template? Or can I get this one to work. Right now until I get the new files uploaded I cant post any links to the new site not working correctly so any advice would be great at this point. Thanks for any newby support!

Lou

The attached deals with converting an html page to a Joomla 1.5 Template. But it may help point out the differences between 1.0 and 1.5 Templates.

Hello and thank you. I already had an index.php file so I made the changes to that file that were in the tutorial but still no luck. It seems that it may be a CSS issue. I am still gonna try to work out the details and post some links to each site. Thanks Ill be back.

That pdf is just a rough guide to some of the code used in 1.5 Templates. The code in 1.0 Templates is different and a comparison between the two may help you. In theory it is just a matter of replacing the 1.0 code with 1.5 code.

And the code in the xml file may be different as well
